    I love that reference.

TIL that I owning almost 1000 books isn't so much fun when there's been a lot of building work going on around the house and every single book needs to be dusted. Several hundred down, several more hundred to go...

I'm pretty sure you can alter that Tora so that your posts to groups don't show up in newsfeeds.

TIL I ahve some amazing friends on FB, whose lives can on one hand be seen as 'ordinary' (whatever that is), but in another light can be seen as epic tales that are now at a place far different from where they started, and usually for the better.

I learned today that my laptop speakers had been running on stereo mode for all this time, producing a flat, quiet sound; and I've only just now managed to figure out how to set it up for its built-in 5.1 speaker setup. It's as if my computer has finally found its voice again. :)

I also learned that not everything is a metaphor for something else. :vulcan:

As far as the admin and I can figure out, you can't control that. Posts to open groups show up in news feeds; posts to closed and secret groups don't. We may be changing ours to a closed group.

Today, I learned that having a white, gas stovetop is a really, really bad idea.

Today I learned thatI am in no way (car) mechanically inclined. What should have been a simple enough task - changing a light bulb on my car's front running/headlight - took only five minutes in that youtube video, but took me about an hour and a half. Fuck that. I can pay somebody to do it next time.

I forgot I posted this thread; it really got a life of its own. Nice work all!

Growing up, we had a white, gas stovetop. Beyond the usual food spills (common to any stovetop) that could be cleaned off in the usual way, I can't remember any particular problems. What's the issue? Is the gas somehow discolouring it? It shouldn't do.

    :guffaw: That's great.

^The grease splatters are impossible to get off it without scratching it the hell up; it's a cheap, piece of crap stove the builders put in.

I learned that Buitoni's ravioli feeds two people per package. The tortellini feeds two people per package. The Angel Hair pasta feeds about 4 very large people who probably haven't eaten all day.

GEEZ, that's a lot of pasta.
