Halloween (1978) Dawn of the Dead (2004) - running zombies scare the ever-loving shit out of me House of 1,000 Corpses Event Horizon Hellraiser Evil Dead II The Crazies (original and remake)
My favorite horror film would have to be The Shining closely followed by Lost Highway and Fire Walk With Me. The latter two are scarier than The Shining but The Shining is better constructed plot wise.
Yeah! And the goddamned movie even messed with the staple of every scaredouttatheirpants kid's classic protective move of pulling the blanket over your head. Remember that scene? *shudder*
Terminator 2: Judgement Day The Garden of Sinners Films Tremors Perfect Blue Underworld/Underworld: Evolution
The only movie that really ever left me feeling really creepy and freaked out was John Carpenter's "The Prince of Darkness." Yes, it was kind of cheesy, but the concept was really cool and there were some VERY creeptastic moments, including the next to last scene where the girl jumps through the mirror and you see her being dragged by the evil hands on the other side... I'm not a big fan of "make you jump out of your seat" slasher films where the music cues the part that's supposed to be scary...
I love the bit where shadowy figures start coming out of the church in the future at the end, very creepy!
Definitely the original Exorcist, and the first Nightmare on Elm Street. I'll also nominate The Serpent and the Rainbow... Holy Guac, that messes with your mind the first few times. Cheers, -CM-
