It's almost like DC's tossing darts on a dart board and seeing what works and what doesn't!!! :) If they gotta change an initial to explain some story nuance I'm sure they would ;)

Are they retconning Red Hood and the Outlaws, too? Roy asked Kori if she remembered the Titans in the first issue. Hasn't Batman and Robin mention Tim being Robin, too? Surely it came up somewhere in the last arc.

Most likely any references to the Titans will be retconned so that Tim's team is the sole team, and I believe yes the first arc of the Court of Owls mentioned Dick being Robin. I'm pretty sure the conversation took place when Bruce informed Dick about the Talons.

My point is that I responded to what you wrote, not what you now wish you wrote.

I see that the hero of Talon, a guy on the run from a previously-unknown supersecret organization, apparenly has ties to another previously-unknown supersecret organization. Exciting.

It's been clear to me since early on that the leadership at DC intends to model comic publishing more along the lines of other more modern entertainment media - pretty specifically television. It appears to be succeeding so far.

Superman Family December Solicits. The Little Man's identity will be revealed in Action Comics #15 (Morrison's second to last issue).

Also it would appear that Morrison is indeed just doing his own thing and ignoring the H'el crossover that is going on in the rest of the books. Probably a good thing.

They've been doing this since 1938, haven't they?

It's pretty much how all popular media works.

This isn't as something as simple as changing Kirk's middle initial. This is a fundamental change to a beloved character. Who is Tim Drake? Time Drake is the third Robin. That's how he was introduced. That's how we was for most of his existence. To suddenly strip that away, and say that he was never the character the he was is insulting to all of the fans.

Did you know that's actually how Wizards creates new Magic decks?

They've been doing that since 1938, too. It's not really that big of a deal, all they've done is ad "Red" to his code name. He's still a Robin.

You've a low threshold foe "insult". I've followed Tim Drake since Batman #436. He's probably the best take on "Robin" I've read, but I cant make myself feel "insulted" over a few changes.

That's the point though of the retcon. He is no longer a Robin. Just as they demoted Stephanie Brown from "Robin" status back to Spoiler, and then eventually phased her out entirely, it would appear they are doing the same thing to Tim Drake. These are changes that aren't necessary in a lot of fans eyes. They add nothing to the character. They might not detract anything, but they sure as hell don't add anything either. Are they going to retcon his famous line now about Batman needing a Robin? "Batman will always need a Robin...a Red Robin!" It's just silly.

It may not bother you Nerys, but surely you could see how it could others? Even if we look at it from a sales stand point, I don't see how making Tim Red Robin increases or decreases sales at all.

I see it as a way to make Tim stand out in a sea of Robins.
