Seriously, what is so great about the serum anyways? The Weapon X guys had the better idea, give the soldiers healing factors to heals their squishy fleshy parts and then coat their bones in adamantium so the bones will never break. The guys are nigh-indestructible, near-unstoppable and virtually immortal.

If it works, of course. In which case the serum and radiation is a little more probable to work.

That's easy. The super-soldier serum was an American project, while Weapon X was a Canadian project.

I thought the healing factor was the only reason Logan...er, James Howlett ( turns and spits ) was chosen for Weapon X. Otherwise you get a lump of dead meat with adamantium stuck in it.

the Ultimate universe has so many characters connected to the super-soldier program because the US, and more particularly SHIELD, were trying to recreate the serum or to create a new one. hence Hulk, Green Goblin, Giant-Man, the mutants, Sand-Man, Electro and Spider-Man being connected.

the F4 and a lot of their enemies aren't though.

Which is so strange, since Mark Gruenwald established that all they needed to do was a blood transfusion from Cap Hopefully that little gem has been forgotten.

^ this was before Cap was thawed out.

there was some talk in The Ultimates about using a blood transfusion to create more after he was found, but it apparently never worked. although Banner combined his blood with a sample from Cap and injected his self and created a meaner, stronger Hulk.

Actually, they explained a while back that Weapon X as we know it today is the continued Super-Soldier program from WWII. The "X"? It's the Roman Numeral "Ten", not "X" as in "Unknown". Captain America was "Weapon I" and Logan was their tenth variant/project in the series.

I would've liked it if they went with the original idea for Weapon X, that the mysterious "Director" who was always giving the orders (and this was from the VERY FIRST Weapon X story ever) from over the phone, was actually Apocalypse.

Don't forget Ultimate Spider-Man has ties to the super soldier program as well since the Oz formula Osborn was working on for Justin Hammer I think was supposed to be a branch of the serum.

no, Osborn was developing Oz for SHIELD and as a 'wonder drug'. Hammer was competing with Oscorp for SHIELD's Super-soldier programme. hence him developing the gene-tech that created Sand-Man and Electro and employing Octavius as a industrial spy.

It makes sense, Apocalypse was always going on about stronger mutants surviving and the Weapon X procedures would definately find the "diamonds in the rough" what with how often the experiments killed their subjects.

Also, later on we saw how Apocalypse was very experienced with the adamantium bonding procedure when he gave Sabretooth an adamantium skeleton and then managed to remove it and place it in Wolverine (who at the time had lost his thanks to Magneto ripping it out of his body).

By the way, Ultimate Spider-Man ties into the Super-Soldier program by having Richard Parker's biochemistry experiments be into replicating the formula (a lot of the present day scientists having been inspired by his work) and possible the Venom project being an offshoot of that work.

This finally moves from rumor to fact. These Marvel movies certainly manage to draw talent on all levels. From starring to support right down to cameos.
