It's a porn film, they're all doing it for pay.

^What goes on in porn films doesn't matter to me, for that reason exactly.

And also WHO CARES if someone identifies as gay and one day decides (without pay, lol) to experiment with a woman? WHO CARES?!

Jerks care. People who have colonized other people's sex lives with their ideology care. Other people's sex lives should not affect your sexual identity.

I'm just relating the facts how I read them. And some gay guys have sex with women and enjoy it. I'm also saying since this does occastionally happen...then there's no way to know for sure how different people react sexually. Even if there were to be a Deltan involved. Here's the article.

You do realize that your facts might simply be advertising?

"Gay" includes bi-sexual, how is a gay man having sex with a woman unusual in the least?

People having sex with whoever the director says to, in order to be paid? Yes this does occasional happen. For one of the "performers" to then give a carefully orchestrated interview where every word was written for them by the production company? Yes that too does occasional happen.

It difficult to see the point you're trying to make.

Who exactly? Personally I wasn't angered at all.

^ I’m only saying that each person is different and unique. Could some gay human men be seduced by a Deltan female due to her pheromones. I’m certain that a few possibly could. While others would probably be unaffected. I mention SHIFTING GEARS because of the gay actor who had never assumed that he might be attracted to women…and it turned out..that a percentage (maybe a low percentage) was attracted to women. Previous to the film, the actor was ignorant of that. I think there are plenty of gay actors out there who would be too repulsed to be with a woman…and not even able to maintain an erection. I agree that adult actors are paid for their films. But it would be difficult for some gay men to have intercourse with a woman. Whether they were being paid or not. Different people have different sexualities. What I was trying to say (and still am) is that a Deltan female could possibly turn on a human gay male. It’s also possible that she wouldn’t be able to turn on said gay male. It would totally depend upon the individual…because people are just too varied an unique. Just because a female Delton has pheromones doesn’t mean that she can snap her fingers…and make some gay man straight. But just like heterosexuals, homosexuals are also complex and varied. Nobody can say for SURE what kind of reaction would take place between a female Deltan and a gay human male. I personally don’t care that the actor in that film enjoyed being with females. It’s his choice and he’s free to be with whomever he chooses to be with. AND…the actor identifies himself as gay…not bisexual.

That's not what I mean, and I think it's obvious.

If I was in a porno, I'd be getting paid to have sex with women. That doesn't mean I'm only having sex with a woman because I'm getting paid to do it. Trust me, I'm happy to have sex with a woman even without getting paid.

There's a difference between performing a sexual act solely because you are getting paid for it, and performing a sexual act that you;d be happy to do for free and getting paid is just icing on the cake.

SpaceLover65, You can only post images that are hosted on your own website or on a site like Photobucket, etc. I changed this one to a link for you. Also - this particular image, while not exactly pornographic, should probably be a link anyway, with a "NSFW" note for cautious viewers. ;)

Welll. The picture is already in the link that I have on another post here. And...the picture was from a link in Wikipedia...which is pretty much open for anybody to see it. Although it's an adult movie....the picture has no private or sex-parts shown. I wouldn't have posted a picture from a pornographic site. However this was from Wikipedia and assumed it would be okay. Besides, I've seen worse on regular tv.

No one I know who is bisexual identifies as "gay", and few people I know would use "gay" to describe a bisexual. But then human sexuality is plastic and these terms are broad generalizations that pin sections of spectrums under slippery labels. The Kinsey scale isn't 0 to 1, after all.

To get this thread back on track: does anyone think the writers would have respected the biology of sexual orientation in dealing with relationships between Deltans and Humans?

I think that's what we've recently just been debating. It would depend on the writer. If he/she is rather shortsighted...there's no telling what he/she might do. I male writer who's sexual identity is mostly gay...probably wouldn't think that a female Deltan could control or get a gay human amorous towards her. A bisexual writer would probably think...Hmm why couldn't a female Deltan have the same affect with gay males as she does straight males. BUT...we just don't know. Human sexuality in many ways is just as complicated as Deltan sexuality. Would the writers create a female Deltan who doesn't take advantage of her pheromones...even if she's taken a pledge of celibacy? I doubt it...the writers would have to come up with a story concept sooner or later...or the show (and character) would eventually become humdrum.

I would not want drugs or pheromones or hypnosis or anything getting me to have sex with either the same gender or opposite gender. Under certain date-rape drugs you'd have sex with anyone male or female.

If the pheromones of Deltans are like that of the Orions and make you have no choice in the matter then maybe thats why Illia has an oath of celibacy. Chapel says even she could detect the pheromones - albeit lesser than the men. From this I conclude that a female Deltans pheromones affect both genders. And assuming Chapel to be totally heterosexual maybe she could affect gay guys in the same way at least as much as Chapel and possibly as much as Sulu (assuming he was totally straight LOL)

I'm bisexual and transsexual and identify myself as gay regularly.

Bisexuals are in fact gay, it isn't a exclusive term for just part of the gay community.

It doesn't matter if the image was on Wikipedia or not - hotlinking the image is considered theft of bandwidth. From the TrekBBS FAQ:

At the least, images "like that" should be put between spoiler brackets, along with a warning that it's NSFW (not safe for workplace).

Some people here do view this site from work, and a image like that suddenly on their computer screen can cause them to face counciling or a written reprimand.

We can agree to disagree. Gay usually includes males who are attractive to..and only have sex with other males. Bisexual are people who happen to be comfortable with both sexes. Some are more comfortable with females....others with males. But there are some gay men who couldn't stomach the thought of being with a woman. AND there are plenty of lesbians who are repulsed by being with men and refuse to do so. They are called Gold-Star-Lesbians.
