Thinking on the amount of attention that BSG drew during its run, I started to wonder how many viewers DS9 was pulling in during its run with considerably less attention but on a much higher-profile network (albeit with shit timeslots). Does anybody know how the numbers between the two compare?
AFAIK and IIRC DS9 had around 8-6 million, decreasing as time went on. AFAIK and IIRC nuBSG had around 2-1 million, decreasing as time went on. In any case, DS9 definitely had way, way more viewers than nuBSG did. Personally, I find it to be both hilarious and disturbing that many media writers with an agenda would always lie in their articles and call nuBSG a huge hit even though it was always a ratings flop.
If I understand the "much higher-profile network" part correctly, then it wasn't the case. DS9 was in syndication, Voyager was the UPN trek flagship.
This article doesn't have a list of ratings, although it does list the average share DS9 had in its run: http://www.trektoday.com/articles/ratings_history.shtml
Because a show syndicated on network television in the 1990s and a show on a cable channel in the 2000s are so comparable? I've seen charts show the ratings of TNG, DS9, and VOY, so they're out there...somewhere.
