That is the case according to startrek.com

If that cover means anything for the crew status, I for one am glad we don't seem to have any casualties.
If anything else has changed in the Trek universe besides that, noone can tell.

Hmm... it could just be a generic pic.

It's certainly nothing that deserves too much attention or analysis.

Since it looks to be a photo cover, I doubt we can read anything into it. The photos used don't even have to be from the new film.

I wonder if they'll ever use illustrated covers instead of the photos?

Comic book covers are among the most notoriously misleading things in any form of media. Means nothing.

Given how cautious the filmmakers have been about letting any spoilers slip, they surely wouldn't give anything away about the movie in a cover released before the movie came out. So they'd probably use a generic image like this even if there were some major change. It doesn't rule anything out.

I hate photo covers. They're lazy and look cheap.

I think there have been a few illustrated variant covers.

Agree 100%. Most of the new Trek stuff (mainly the comics) have been recycling the same images over and over and over again.

The Ongoing series is mostly photo covers, but IDW has illustrated covers for their other Trek lines, like Countdown to Darkness, Braga's TNG Hive series and the TNG/Doctor Who crossover Assimilation-Squared.

StarTrek.com has a preview up for issue 2, read here. Now this is a preview.

For those wondering, April did indeed command another Enterprise which was decommissioned two years earlier. April himself commanded the ship twenty years earlier and was believed to have been killed in action.

^^Does anyone else imagine the Guardian of Forever's voice when they read that post? :)

Looks like Captain April may not be the villain of this miniseries.

Well, it looks like there was
another Enterprise after all before the movie one. And it was decommissioned. And April is not a bad guy after all.

I'm looking forward to finding out what is going on here, very interesting stuff.

Maybe because the previous one had another number, like Archer's.
