The Doctor acted like an idiot in The Lodger, he'd spent more than three years living on earth an yet he did seem to know how greet a person. The Lodger was a mess of a story.
I think it is mostly that he was overthinking it because he wanted to try to pass as 'normal'. Either way, I liked it and the follow-up a lot just because they were good excuses for Smith being wacky.
The quote isn't sourced, but Blogtor Who is reporting that Jenna-Louise Coleman claims there's a filming gap until series 8. Her reason does make sense of the recent hand-smacking the Benedict Cumberbatch received for saying that there will be a Sherlock series 4; it could be that Moffat and Gatiss intend to film Sherlock 4 this year as well. However, it's also an odd quote that's devoid of context, so she may not have meant what the headline claims she meant.
Isn't series 8 proper filming from September for a Spring premiere? ISTR hearing somewhere that it was April/May for the anniversary filming, July for Xmas, then Sept-onwards for series 8.
Nope. September is the Xmas Special. Matt Smith will be in 'beautiful' Detroit from May to August. There's absolutely no word on when Series 8 will shoot.
Moffat sort of discussing the end of his time on Who but as usual does not reveal much: http://www.rte.ie/ten/2013/0324/moffats.html
