Unfortunately, I'm playing the PS3 version. Well, I DO have other criticisms, but I wouldn't want to clog the thread with all of them. But here's one. I don't think it was a great idea to make dragons a random mob. I think that, as epic as the game is, fighting dragons should be a special experience, but they've devalued the experience of fighting them by making them just like any ordinary mob.
I agree. I normally get fed up with RPGs because I never want to invest the time to make my character strong enough to finish the game. Skyrim, so far, is different. Too bad. There are some fantastic mods out there. I have a lot of fun with my custom swords pack.
Well, that was weird. I discovered a castle with a dragon symbol on the map. I went up to the top of the tower, starting a dragon fight. After the dragon got to like 25% health, it flew down to the bottom of the tower and just sat on the ground motionlessly. I shot arrows at it until it died. Was that a glitch?
I had a crazy random encounter today. Two dragons, (one normal, one blood dragon) attacked me at once, and then began fighting one another. I ended up fighting the blood dragon after it killed the other dragon, and had it mostly dead when I was attacked by a bear. I killed the blood dragon, but was down to my last bit of health and wasn't sure I had enough left in me to take out the bear, when I was saved by a stray dog that came along and killed it for me.
Y'know, I wanted to be a magic based character, but I don't like how the spells work. The constant flame/lighting attack is too weak, and the one you charge up to release I can't hit the broad side of a barn with. I'm consistently forced to rely on my 2 handed sword. I did get a cool one, though. It has 35 damage and sets the victim on fire!
Just happened to come across this. Rather beautiful: [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z9TdDCWN7g[/yt] She also does a rather beautiful cover of Age of Agression.
when they get low on health they land because they're 'too tired to fly' sometimes they also do a crash landing
There are more powerful spells. You just have to buy them. Flame is the weakest, Fire Bolt is stronger, etc, etc. And of course when you put perk points into the appropriate school of magic, the spells do more damage.
Dumb question, if I read a book without taking it, by which I mean just looking at the cover then moving away, does that give me Speech experience?
Speech experience comes from talking to shopkeepers, etc. But you do indeed gain the increase from skill books you read, even if you don't take them. Some are in people's homes etc, and you can read them for the skill boost but if you took it, it would count as stealing.
The same thing happened to me in the open area just outside White Run! I took out 2 dragons and out of no where a Sabre Tooth Cat jumps out and almost kills me!! In an act of desperation, I pull out my Wabajack, a weapon that I had thought to be completely useless until then, and smacked the cat with it twice. The first hit had no effect on him... The second one turned him into a fuzzy little bunny.
I have the Wabajack! Should I try using it on a dragon? I just ran into my first blood dragon last night. I couldn't hurt it at all! I'm gonna have load from the previous save.
Holy crap! I went to my last save where the blood dragon appears. I used my Wabajack on him... and he died in like five hits!!! Now I want to use this weapon for the rest of the game
Awesome. I was getting stuck in several places because I'd always get beaten down by tougher enemies, but I might go back and use that and see how they measure up against it
