Interesting. I always pictured Linda Blair as Soleta, for some reason. Don't ask me why! :D

(Then again, considering my user name, maybe it's not such a surprise...)

    Re: Casting

At first I thought John Cameron Mitchell (creator and star of Hedwig And The Angry Inch) would be a good choice to play Burgoyne 172, but now I'm thinking that he might be a better choice to play Thirishar ch'Thane in the DS9 Relaunch. As far as Burgoyne 172 is concerned, now I'm thinking Alexis Arquette!

For some reason, I imagined Gary Oldman as Androvar Drake.

    Re: Casting

That's not bad either. But I've gotten so used to him as Lt. Gordon ("Batman Begins") that I'm not sure I'll be able to picture him as a bad guy anymore. :p

This is my first post so for New Frontier

Calhoun - Joe Flanigan or Nathan Fillion (Firefly's Mal Reynolds is a lot like Calhoun.)

Redeemer Overlored - Ian McDiarmid (The Overlord reminds me of Emperor Palpatine.)

Thul - Chirstoper Lee (He is perfect for the part.)

    Si Cwan - Peater Woodward

I'm more for Richard Dean Anderson as Gold for some for some reason

I just can't see Richard Dean Anderson being that Jewish. Just doesn't fit. Leslie Neilson I think is a better fit for Gold. He's got the look and he can play both comic and straight as needed.

    As David Gold?

    Judd Hirsch, definitely.

Judd Hirsch is an interesting choice for David Gold. I can see that working.

How does one 'be that Jewish'? You are the religion the script tells you to be. I don't think RDA would work as Gold, but because RDA's portrayals are too lackadaisical and smarmy.

    Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

While I've been reading Serpents Among the Ruins I've been trying to cast it, so far the only original character I've been able to cast so far is The X-Files' John Neville as Vokar.

Harriman and Demora are taken care of, unless you want to be kind of perverse and do your own mental casting of them :p

As for everyone else, I can offer you this: people who've read these threads before may remember that my visual template for the younger Elias Vaughn is an actor who has been on Law & Order and OZ named Philip Casnof

    Your mileage may vary.

That's a great, great novel. Savor it.

Wow, he'd be perfect, at least appearance wise, as Vaugh in SAtR.

    Re: Casting

Also, I've been re-reading the novel Once Burned (one of my favorites, New Frontier or otherwise), and I've got three more casting suggestions:

Sam Waterston as Captain Norman Kenyon
(Needs no introduction whatsoever. We can see him every week as District Attorney Jack McCoy on Law & Order. Has also had prominent roles in many other films, including The Killing Fields and Crimes And Misdemeanors.)

    Murray Melvin as Barhba
(If you'll remember, Murray Melvin played the disapproving Reverend Runt in Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon, as well as in quite a few Ken Russell films, including 1971's The Devils. If you've seen Barry Lyndon at all, you might find it a bit of a stretch to imagine Reverend Runt made up to look like a broccoli stalk, but somehow it's possible for me!)

    Michael Massee as Lieutenant Cray
If you'll remember, Michael Massee portrayed Funboy in The Crow, the cynical Man In Massage Parlour Booth in David Fincher's Seven, and the ill-fated porno kingpin Andy in David Lynch's Lost Highway. He's also been in lots of TV shows, including Alias and The Practice.)

    Eccentric choices? Perhaps... :D

As this is fantasy casting, I always picture Sean Connery circa " Dr. No". The only (admitedly minor) problem with that image of Casnof for Vaughn circa SAtR is that Vaughn didn't grow the facial hair until many years later as per "The Art of the Impossible".

I still gotta go with Katherine Moennig as Burgoyne.

Of course, I'm biased, since I have a huge crush on her (and this was even *before* The L Word).

Bruce Bloxlightner (sp?) is the best choice to play Vaughn. If you've seen B5, then you'll know he has the look and feel that would do Vaughn right.

Gotta disagree. IMHO, Boxlightner can't act his way out of a paper bag.
