What's worse is in the UK where the censored versions of stuff cut for a lower rating are released on DVD, and the uncut version (whether at a higher rating or even the same!) is only out on Blu-ray.

C.f. The Hangover, The A Team, Temple of Doom, The Angels Share, Woman In Black, etc etc...

When you say "the uncut version" do you mean the theatrical version?

I suspect by "uncut" he means the "true" theatrical version rather than a version that's been cut to meet the UK's equivalent of the MPAA's standards.

These days I find "store-specific" exclusives to be sort of annoying.

It means the US theatrical version, in the cases I mentioned - today there's a tendency for distributors to cut for a 12A rating if would otherwise get a 15, and then also release that version on DVD but the 15 version on blu-ray

The Abyss DVD is not anamorphic. :wtf:

I made that horrifying discovery after I watched Aliens on blu ray. Boy, does The Abyss look horrible on the DVD. Naturally, DVD looks less good than blu ray, but that contrast was shocking.
