Hey Smoothie, one of our TBBS friends posted this on FaceBook related to this week's storm, and I immediately thought of you.

Cuz of the map, I mean. :p

A few snaps from my new iPhone of the aftermath of our latest storm (thank you, Mayor Bloomberg, for being sensible and declaring a snow day!):

No way! It was only the 9th snow day NYC has had in 35 years!

Did they declare one for those days where they couldn't get the streets cleared at all?

Nice pics, though. I really like the graffiti on the subway station.

I remeber living in Vermont. The one way we would get a snow day from school is if the Prinicipal couldn't get out of his driveway, the bastard had a snow plow attached to his car.

^Here it is the mayor who decides whether schools will be closed, and, like I said, it doesn't happen often. It's a bit ridiculous: the day of the last big storm (the snow from which hadn't melted at the time of this blizzard), schools remained open. Only about 40% of the students at my school attended. My largest class had 9 kids in it!
Yeah, that was the day. And, yes, there is a lot of fantastic art in my neighborhood.

That's one thing I enjoy about moving to the south. They're terrified of snow. It really only takes a couple of inches to get the day off.

ETA: Added "the day" to prevent jokes.

Yeah, one of my best friends lives in DC now, but she's originally from Chicago. She gets super annoyed anytime it snows in DC because the entire city freaks out.

Part of a Mexican pizza I just made from a recipe that occurred to me the other day while I was making a regular pizza. It doesn't look like much, But as far as taste goes, it is awesome. Unlike most of my recipes, I got this one right the first time. Although, I think I'll go with a regular pizza crust next time. The stuff on top is too much for a thin crust.

    If anyone is interested:

Take a 12" pizza crust, dump a 10.5 oz can of Hormel chili on it and spread it into a thin layer, top with grated Mexican cheese blend, ground beef cooked with taco seasoning (which you should have already prepared), pinto beans, and sliced Jalapenos. Then stick it in an oven for 10 minutes at 450 degrees (which you should have already preheated.) My mom suggested putting sour cream on it after baking. I don't really care for sour cream so I didn't, but whatever you want to do.
