According to Markmeets.com, the world premiere for STID will be held in London on May second at the Empire cinema in Leicester Square.

As of now, the only star that is scheduled to attend is Simon Pegg. If it the actual world premiere, I think the whole cast and JJ will attend like they did when Star Trek (2009) was released.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get tickets for the event? Usually, The Prince´s Trust arranges the gala premieres for Star Trek movies in the UK. But I haven´t seen any information on their web page.

Fantastic news that it's at the Empire, 100x better than the Odeon. Means the film will be shown there as well. Actually every Trek film has been at the Empire (apart from Nemesis, which was at neither!), so hardly surprising, but still good news :)

I think I made a mistake naming Empire as the venue. I don´t think they have decided yet. But the gala premiere for GI Joe was held there and so was the one for Star Trek (2009) so I just assumed that they picked the same one.

If I'm remembering the Sydney 2009 premiere correctly, 1800 attendees at the Sydney Opera House 2000-strong gala event received free invitations. They were mainly carefully chosen local celebs with blogging and Twitter notoriety (ie. 900 double passes). The media called them "taste setters", ie. people the public tend to listen to. And it certainly worked. Several non-Trekkie "taste setters" I know blogged how much they'd enjoyed the movie, and that initial buzz stayed positive. (There was a separate media preview.)

The remaining 200 seats were put up for sale on the Sydney Opera House's website, and it caused a Monday morning Internet logjam. I stupidly tried for two tickets, even though I didn't know who I was planning to take. People who just tried for one were more quickly successful, as the system didn't have to attempt to find groups of seats together. It was all over in seconds!

A few hours after people got the automated "hung site" and "sold out" messages, a batch became available again, as some cards got declined and tickets were reoffered.

Every Trek film from Generations onwards (at least) has been at the Empire, apart from Nemesis I think, so pretty good bet it will be I think?

Oh yeah, I never yet commented on the rest of the planet seeing STID before the U.S...

There's no problem with either of those links, nor with any link to a page with information about the movie or having some relevance to it.

Advertising spam or porn would fall under the heading of "not allowed," but those are the only real no-nos. Feel free to ask if you have questions concerning anything else.

^ I was just about to post that info about Sydney. I was to be in Melbourne then. Maybe a slight rearrangement might be needed.

Woohoo!!!! I'll be home by then. :bolian:

Mind you, 1800 seats last time were free double passes to local and visiting celebs, Internet gossips and high profile Tweeters. Only 200 tickets were available online to the common fan. And there was a meltdown on the website, as you can imagine.

At least 30 double passes were given away by the Melbourne-based Austrek, and Empire Magazine had a competition for about the same number.

Goodness knows how many others are being given away.

Anyone knows if the gala premiere in London will be open to the public? And, if so where to buy tickets?

It's likely to be contest winners and invitees only.

The 2009 premiere in Sydney was 900 double passes to celeb invitees and 200 single tickets sold online to the public. The Sydney premiere of STiD last Tuesday was two cinemas full of contest winners, plus a few selected invitees (ie. double the size of the event the same organizers trialled a few months ago for the "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" gala premiere). No ticket sales at all.

Advice from Paramount: Enter every contest you can. Most of them will be online ones: mobile phones, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
