    What the title says.

I'll start: they really need to put their defensive systems and interface panels on separate circuit breakers. I know this is a design feature ("working as intended") that can trace its roots back to Earth Starfleet, but you'd think by now they could get rid of this legacy feature. How many ensigns have been maimed or killed by exploding panels when the actual ship takes no real damage? An enemy could take out half the crew without even dropping the shields! I could see it as a way to discourage captains from getting into needless combat, but that assumes they actually care about their redshirts; time and time again we have seen that this is not usually the case.

The fact that they have thousands of ships but only have 1 or 2 ships guarding there most vital planets! Fix your defences!

And why o why dont you give your security personal armor? or at least camoflage rather than bright red easy to spot shirts.

I fail to see why consoles need such high voltage wiring when they are designed around an optical network- in TMP Scotty has a panel open and all it contains is fiber optic strands.

Starfleet needs to keep a few ships in the home system just in case the Enterprise, the ONLY ship available in a crises, is not around.

People hate the JJ Trek, but at least he did add seat belts to the bridge.

The holodecks, serioulsy the amount of times those safeties fail.

As others have mentioned stop making consoles out of explodium. (or employ a 20th century bit of tech known as fuses/circuit breakers and another 20th century bit of tech Seat Belts.

Perhaps mandatory psych evaluations for the upper echelons. How many of Starfleet's captains and admirals have gone completely fucking insane?

And how many control panels did we see explode in those movies? *parades in the streets*

Starfleet needs to rely more on noncoms and enlisted personnel to carry out the majority of assignments, instead of officers.

And their ships need more cow bell.

And why keep arming personal who are going to be faceing the Borg with easy to adapt to phasers and energy weapons when they seem pefectly vulnrable to projectile weapons and melee weapons! Come on how hard would it be to replicate a AK-47 and a longsword!

How about a retractable emitter they could poke through their own shields to beam up/down whilst shielded.

Someone needs to explain why a good 95% of Starfleet Admirals are either:

    a) The bad guy
    b) Wrong about something
    c) Lame

They really do seem to promote all the dickheads. Its a wonder anything gets done.

The Borg would just adapt their shields to reflect bullets. We've seen ships bounce of the Ent_D shields.

If they could adapt to bullets they would have done so already. After assimililating thousands of species and trillions of life forms they would have encounterd projectile weapons and if they could have adapted to them they would have.

It seem like a weakness to exploit

    Personal shields.

Seatbelts (well, the Alternate Universe has them at least.)

Apparently individual drones don't keep a record of every defense on them, nor do they necessarily carry a defense for every attack ever encountered by the Collective. Why would they - individual drones are expendable.

For the Borg, defense is a matter of experiment. Is the enemy shooting energy beams, slugs, or rocks at us? Send a drone out. It was killed, but now they know what the enemy is using.

Picard took down the former Ensign Lynch with a nice old slugthrower, but he wasn't attacked by any more drones after that, was he? It's likely that the next drones would've been ready for a hail of bullets.

TMP did attempt to correct the issues with security personnel armor and seat restraints.

To be fair, that applies to all procedurals of any genre ever. Police dramas, medical dramas, detective dramas. You name it, the boss's boss is a lame a-hole.

Armor wouldn't do any good in the 24th century when weapons vaporize. And nobody but Data could move in duranium plate mail.

I want to know why no military in the 24th century that realized having a large amount of small, maneuverable ships is better than having a small amount of huge ships that blow up if you nick the warp core.

And why ships don't rotate the phase frequency of their shields all the time.

Have the senior security officer and the senior tactical officer be two separate people.

Starfleet should have more kittens. Everything's better with kittens.

Security, security, security. It's way too easy to steal a shuttle, initiate an unauthorized transport, steal command codes, or sabotage pretty much anything.

A big sign needs to be placed outside of main engineering. "No unauthorized or unescorted visitors, No Kids, No Pets".
Matter of fact the doors shouldn't even open for them. The computer's smart enough.

Have more than one ship on standby to address any emergencies that can potentially destroy Earth.
