I hate how many characters lived on into the TNG era, it made sense for Spock. Came across as convoluted mess for the rest.

I could see them living into the TNG timeframe, but definitely no longer in Starfleet--maybe a guest lecturer at the Academy once in a blue moon but that'd be all.

Who else was there beside ancient Bones in the 1st episode and Scotty in a buffer? Did I forget someone?

Sulu and Rand popped up on VOYAGER, but only in a flashback to a previous era.

I was wondering about them, but they were a flashback to TUC so that really isn't in the TNG era, is it?

I'll see your fifty quatloos and raise you two hundred.

But as for the crew of the Enterprise, having as many as three show up in later series may strike some as unrealistic (even though it's an unrealistic universe).

Four. If you include Kirk from Star Trek: Generations.

    Kirk - Dead.

    Spock - Believed dead.

McCoy - So old might as well be dead.

Scotty - Returned from the dead.

    Sulu - Maybe dead.

Uhura - Speaks to the dead.

    Chekov - Buries the dead.

    Trip - Not dead.

    Oh... sorry :p

Koenig is only 5 years younger than Shatner, so I don't think we can say Chekov (depending on source, born 2241) was "much younger" than Kirk (Born 2233).

By the TNG era, and if 2241 was his birth year, by the events of Nemesis, Chekov would be 138.

By Star Trek 2009, when Romulus is destroyed, it's 2387, making Chekov 146.

I personally like the histories that were given in one of Shatner's books. He pulled from the actors' real lives.

Sulu got into politics and worked his way into the Federation Council. George Takei had been into politics in the later '70s and still remains outspoken in political issues to this day.

Uhura worked on getting better outreach programs for Starfleet to enlist beings from many different worlds. Nichelle Nichols had worked with NASA to encourage women and minorities to get into the space program.

Kidding aside, we see him as Commander Kyle on the Reliant in TWOK.

A single term San Fransisco city council person iirc. As I remember the story, at the time if a TV station interviewed a candidate, the station had to give their opponent "equal time."

Takei's opponent sued a station saying that every time the station showed a rerun of Star Trek, the station had to give him (her?) equal time on air for the amount of time Takei was on screen.

The station stopped rerunning Star Trek for the duration of the campaign.

He ran for public office a couple of time in Los Angeles, but never won. He was appointed to board of directors of the Southern California Rapid Transit District in the 70s.
