Does he have a pemit for the suit? Its more lethal then a tank and people cannot own tanks and use them.

JARVIS is more intelligent than to be fooled by that. ;)

This scene actually reminds me of the scene where Gary Busey shoots Danny Glover's former friend and source from a helicopter in Lethal Weapon, written by Shane Black. Admittedly, it wouldn't have occurred to me but for the Black connection.

Actually, you can own a tank and use it, provided you fill out the paperwork and pass a few tests and background checks. If I recall correctly, in one state, the difference between a permit for tank that has it's muzzle de-bored and a live-fire muzzle is around $50. :p

Also, this issue was given far too little time in IM2.

It seems to me that as a top US weapons manufacturer Stark would already have all the permits. I think he'd have to, just to be able to conduct his business.

The issue in IM2 was more along the lines of does he have the right to refuse to give his creation to the US Government.

So who's in the Iron Man suit when it grabs Potts when she's in bed with Stark and then later menacingly stands over Stark, or is that some sort of dream sequence I wonder.

The going theory I think is that, similar to a plot-line in the comics, the suit gains its own consciousness. Probably due to whatever "Extremis"-like experiments Stark is conducting on it in order to better don and use the suit.

Or maybe he allows for JARVIS to control the suit at first, but as the house is destroyed, the main copy of JARVIS completely downloads to the suit to survive giving him more control over it?

Stark is working on a way to remote control the suit

He's also having nightmares about the battle in New York.

He was nearly killed a few times in "The Avengers"

    -Thrown out of a window
-Going into space on low power
-Nearly chopped up by the helicarriers turbine blades
-He was so sure that he wouldn't make it back from delivering the nuke he tried to call Pepper.

It's possible that Stark synched his brain waves to the new armor.

When he has nightmares his subconscious activates the armor. Stark's priority to "Protect" leaks into the armor

    The armor follows by "Protecting"

I like that they're not shying away from negative consequences of that battle. And for someone like Tony, it makes sense to suffer from PTSD after something like this.
    He's no soldier after all.
Cap fought on the frontlines in WW II. Widow and Hawkeye fought in modern battles (judging from the Budapest footage or whatever that was).
Thor? Please, he's seen thousands of battles over the eons.
They're all used to this shit as opposed to Tony.

I'm excluding Banner here since, technically, he didn't fight.

Fighting giant serpents and a ferocious army is just a Tuesday for Thor.

Isn't this more-or-less how the "Tony as abused spouse" plot in the comics went? The suit going overboard to protect Tony?

The suit is just pissed that Tony is nailing Pepper every night, so it is going to shove Pepper into a fridge. Talk about a jealous bastard!

This could ultimately lead to ultron after avengers 2.

Ant man is supposed to be after the phase 2 movies and avengers 3 are completed.

    Phase 3 will probably be

    Ant man
    Iron man 4
    Thor
    Captain America

    Avengers 3

I thought Ant Man had already been announced as the last Phase 2 movie before Avengers 2?
