No, he meant exactly what he said, and has said similar and much worse things a hundred times before, just not in Miscellaneous. He's a misogynist, racist, atheist-hating atheist (or at least, he claims to be an atheist, yet all he does is rant against them), macho internet tough guy who thinks men are victims and women are out to take advantage of them at every turn.

Which is why I told him to take his act back to TNZ, which is at least opt-in, and leave it out of Misc. where it's open to everyone. But he decided to take a non sequitur parting shot about atheists to troll tsq even though no one mentioned atheists, because that's the kind of stuff he does when a woman has the gall to reject his sexist, entitled attitude.

I see. In my previous enconters with him he behaved rather gentlemanly so that I didn't get a chance yet to get to know this particular facet of his personality. From your description he seems to negate everything out of principle. In my experience people mainly do that when they are deeply frustrated or bored. Rarely when they are genuinely evil. Maybe a hug attack might help? :D Over on KHCMB we used to do that. It went similar to this:
Troll: look at me, I'm an evil troll!
    poster #1: that's a troll? Cute!
poster #2: I always though they were bigger and hairier!
poster #3: aww, now look what you've done. You hurt him!
    everyone: awwww! hug!!!!
Upon which the troll would either have a laughing fit, surrender and join the fun or run away screaming to never return again :D
I wonder which GalaxyX would do. My bet is he'd act grumpy so as to not lose face but secretly laugh his ass off.

This thread is getting too ridiculous to follow overall, but I really like that comic! Perfect! Thanks for sharing! :)

I think "nice guys" have ruined the term "nice guy" permanently.

A (female) friend recently said I was a "good guy" and distinguished it from "nice guy." I suppose it makes a good point: with a "nice" guy, all you know is what he's presenting, not necessarily what's underneath it. Is he being nice to you just for sex or because he genuinely wants to get to know you and treat you respectfully without any expectation of something more than friendship? What really matters is whether he's a good one, and that has little to do with whether he's particularly "nice."

So, I'm content to write off "nice guy" as a term with any positive connotations at all.

Also, that comic was pretty awesome. Good summary of the core issue.

The hilarious thing is that the atheist remark was so non sequitur it just left me confused -- I would never have guessed it was an attempt to troll!

Whatevs. The comic J shared is the best, and I wouldn't have seen it if not for this stupid thread.

Atheist Goat popped up on my Facebook feed as a consequence of having some less than open-minded friends. Personally, I want to reclaim him.

And atheist goats cannot be happy, especially the female ones. True fact.

What was it Ira Graves (TNG: The Schizoid Man) said? "Women aren't people. They're women!"

I use to watch how people treat their staff/underlings. For example how they treat a waiter, a shop clerk or a cleaner. Quite regularly a "nice guy" will accidentially drop his mask and show his real face.
Someone, on the other hand, who treats his social inferiors gently and with respect can be expected to also be a respectful partner in a relationship.

Not viewing them as social inferiors would be the best thing. Or rather if it was clear they did view them like that they could go jump.

Yeah, I have no social inferiors. We're all on the same level in that regard.

    I couldn't agree more.
Just didn't know how to otherwise express the state of being payed less and having less power and standing. "Esteem-wise challenged"??

How about "people working in certain parts of the services sector of the economy"?

I mean... "socially inferior"? "Underlings"? Seriously?

That you even used that term says a lot about you and apparently you think of social capital only as "power and standing".
