But, see, that doesn't quite have the air of arrogance and defiance Bautista's had. Oh, it's, smug for sure but it's got a certain suaveness to it. It'ls looks like James Bond doing a batflip or something. Not violently chucking it like a spoiled child.

Anyway. a costly error costs the Mets and likely will ultimately cost them the series.

Exhibit A of why I dislike Jose Bautista.

Prospects do bust, but these were prospects who even been before hitting the majors were showing greatness. I was and am still not a fan of the Dickey trade and giving up two sure-fire prospects, one of which is now a star pitcher of a World Series finalist. Hoffman was another one of these pitchers who are destined for greatness.

I personally believe Rogers was going to give him control over player moves. He only left because it wasn't going to be the control he had under Beeston, which was "call me when you need money." I can't think of one team where the general manager doesn't have to report to someone before making a trade and I think AA bristled at having to suddenly ask someone to review his trades before he made them. We're never going to get the real answer to this as everyone decides to take the high road.

Almost every manager on the planet would have sent Harvey out for the 9th, a few would have gone to get him after the walk.

    Oh well.

Congratulations to the Royals. Coming in they were the better team, but both teams were pretty evenly matched. They had everything go right for them, Mets couldn't really get it together. Yet, as a Mets fan, I'm still very happy. How many days till Pitchers and Catchers report?

As it's pretty much worked all post season, the Royals may not get the HRs or big hits, but they know how to grind and pick and get it done when and where it counts.

Eighth inning, this was looking over and coming back to KC and then, well, we seized and opened up the gates. Yeah, Errors helped as well as mistakes from the Mets but that's because they're trying to play big-time hardball. Trying to beat you into submission. But we come out as a team and just wear you out.

Congrats to the Royals. Was pulling for the Mets, but just couldn't close things out. 3 games blown in the 8th or 9th inning, didn't deserve to win. Tough way to blow a series, gonna be a long offseason for the closer...

Now the Mets know how the Cubs felt about 10 days ago.

    Plus a pennant, I mean.

At least the Mets got to win one game.

But it was another case of one team matching up way better to the other. The Cubs were 7-0 vs. the Mets in the regular season, but then the Mets gelled as a team and made some additions by the post-season and the Cubs forgot what made them a great team in the 2nd half.

Despite leading the league in strikeouts, the Cubs had that patience thing going for them where they could get a good starter out of the game just by getting him to throw 90 pitches by the 4th inning. Maybe they scored some runs in there, maybe they didn't.

Plus some of the big regular season bats went ice cold in the post-season (mainly Bryant & Rizzo).
