Am I the only one that notices that the pylons and the nacelles on the crashing ship ARE DIFFERENT THE THE ONES ON THE ENTERPRISE?

Yep. These engines are awfully angular and pointy, and not remotely as round, bulbous, and 57-Chevy-esque as those on the JJPrise. Design-wise these engines look far more like those of the Enterprise-E from the prime universe.

^ Not conclusive. The way it's damaged has changed the front of the nacelle. Assuming it only ever lights up like that, could suggest something that's not bulbous. However there's enough fire, smoke and turbulence covering the right side.

In normal operation, it's obviously blue though.

The sheer number of quick cuts, it's not at all surprising we missed that. Got a minutes and seconds time reference?

Is that the Moon's surface, do we reckon? A battle between two starships in Earth orbit perhaps? :)

don't know why you're quoting what i said... my reference was to the very visible shot of the Enterprise falling from orbit not the ship hitting the water

That was from the trailer shown at the end of the 9-minute preview - but I just found it at 1:13 on the second trailer.

^ Cheers. Found it a bit hard to actually pick out that exact frame from this. Got pretty close.

Looks like a largely intact starship, being reached by a spacesuited figure, through a debris field around a moon-like planet surface.

Difficult to tell from a silhouette, but if I were to guess, I'd say it's probably the Enterprise or a same class Abramsverse ship. The nacelle area near the pylons, looks freakishly muscular enough... ;)

I think I did this last night in a hurry sorry.

And yeah I expect the Enterprise to do a last minute (at least) save.

Sometimes the trailers are put together before the final cut of the film. Biehn appears in a deleted scene from T2. The people who made the trailer probably didn't know the scene wouldn't appear in the final cut of the film.

I think quite a few ships will get detonated before all is said and done.
