The last few months have seen the start of a new Spidey franchise, the end of Nolan's Batman trilogy, a new Judge Dredd, and endless speculation for the new Trek...

So, this week's contest is all about the reboots.

For those unclear on a reboot, its when the same character is used, but with a new castin' choice and new continuity from what was previously established.

Christian Bale as Batman is a reboot.

Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner is not.

All entries have to conform to board rules - up to 150x150, and 140KB if animated.

Entries should be posted by Friday mornin' so I can get the poll goin' in time for the weekend, dependin' on my work schedule. A recap will be posted Thursday.

    Good luck!

Though I'm anything but a fan of this particular reboot, it was one of the first to come to mind.

Not sure if this qualifies. The line between sequel and reboot is a bit unclear on this one. Though that's, of course, for od0_ital to decide, he makes the rules.

As alternatives, I suggest MoS, though basically most other Superman incarnations would also qualify as reboots. L&C, SV, all cartoons after the Fleischer ones, even the Richard Donner movie could be considered a reboot of a franchise formerly associated in the general public with the 50s TV show.

Yes, it's from the upcoming Robocop reboot. If nothing happens to radically change my mind, I'm going to ignore it. Paul Verhoeven's original happens to be one of my all-time favorite movies, and I simply don't see any reason to reboot or do anything other than leave a masterpiece be that goes beyond a movie studio's desire to cash in on the name.

I'm okay with it...while Bryan Singer tried to do a sequel AND a reboot in the same movie, failin' at both, that Lois Lane's son wasn't a part of her character for the third film from the original series shows that this was meant to be a fresh take on the character. That there was an entirely new cast works in its favor for this contest, as well.

Though I would be more likely to vote for Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor than Brandon Routh's Superman...hell, I'd vote for Brandon Routh's Clark Kent before I voted for his Superman.

Yeah they have this obsession in rebooting everything, even if the original movie was a hit,i think it might be cause the younger generation, does not want to see "old movies"

I know. A colleague of mine won't watch any movies that are older than she is. That's like a rule to her.

As much as I want your vote, I'll stick with Supes. BSG woulda been my second choice but it's been done.

I would say "kids today are stupid," but actually I think most kids whenever are stupid to be fair.
I was talking to a younger friend of mine who's 21 (I'm 28) about the new Total Recall remake and asked him if he'd seen the original. "Nah, I don't really like old films."
Movies from 1990 are considered "old films"

So he was born in 1991. I was born in 1984, but never had a problem as a kid watching films from the early 80s, late 70s etc

Then again he's not the sharpest tool in the box, but still.
