It definitely looks like they're back on form!

I just hope that "The Beginning" doesn't mean the end. I hope there's more! Looks like they're back in good form.

The second point is certainly true, although my PBS affiliate (in the Seattle-area) carried Red Dwarf all the way through series VIII in 1999.

When I lived in Texas my PBS station played it every Saturday. Went through the series a few times (in order). It was a nice way to see the show before the DVDs were released.

Just saw a TV spot for it - on Watch during a rerun of Time Of Angels

    me too

it sounds like they are using some concepts from the unmade movie and if I remember correctly they get back to earth in that one and if they do then that might be one way of bringing the story to an end.

I remember reading about an unfilmed concept for Series 8 where they do get back to Earth. And because Lister is a horrible driver they crash through one of the major cities in Red Dwarf. The final shot would have been Lister exchanging insurance information with one of the leaders of the World.

I always thought that sounded pretty funny.

It's been ages ago since I read them so I might be mistaken, but in the novels wasn't Earth just basically a garbage planet?

I hope Ace Rimmer makes an appearance.

Depends, was in one, in the other the replicants had taken it over and hunted down all the humans.

Yeah, Chicago PBS never had RD, but channel 10 from Milwaukee did.

Though it was hit or miss whether I could get that on a TV with an antenna. I only ever saw one or two episodes before I got the DVD's.

So, Doctor Who will end its half season, and around then Red Dwarf will start its run.

Holy crap! It's early 90s PBS all over again! AWESOME.

Personally, I lost a lot of respect for the local PBS station here in Tempe, AZ when they stopped airing Red Dwarf on Saturday nights. Now, their Saturday nights are dominated by all those crappy British old people sitcoms (As Time Goes By, Keeping Up Appearances, Last of the Summer Wine, Waiting for God). Oh, and don't forget the endless reruns of The Lawrence Welk Show.

I was under the impression the British don't like announcing airdated that far in advance? Doctor Who never has its premiere dates anounced until a week or so in advance.

It's on a digital TV channel, they work a little differently to the main networks, and some shows on the main networks do get air dates further in advance it's just for the big shows they want to keep options open to help prevent counter programming by other networks.

Mr. Flibble is pleased with this news, also disappointed that he won't have a reason to use his hex vision. :p
