I'm only 27, and I have a hard enough time making 90s references around people just a few years younger than me. I shudder when I check IDs at my bar and see that people born in 1992 are old enough to drink.
I know. When I stop and think that babies that were born the month I graduated from high school are now approaching the legal drinking age I feel like drinking myself.
I just got back from eating breakfast at my favorite diner. They gave me the senior discount...and I didn't ask for it. I'm only (as of this May) 43!
Indeed. Back in the late 20th century there were some shockers. There was one particular twit who posted a thread titled "will I be the first rear admiral?" and proceeded to spam the place up... Speaking of getting old - I just hit 31! I was still a teenager when I signed up. Still check the site daily. Although my post count is now a shadow of it's former stratospheric level.
I time line it by telling people that JFK was alive when I was born, and that pretty much makes it ancient...
That's the thing that really blows my mind. I signed up when I was 14! "Mom, get off the phone! I need to get on AOL!"
I know what that feeling is like ... as recently I've gone back to studying, and many of the other students just finished high school last year. One of the first persons that I met isn't 18 yet.
Congrats, oh venerable ancient one! Happy Birthday!! another 41 days for me They made a mistake. They surely meant to give you the regular customer discount and just hit the wrong key. I'm so old that I remember when the first pocket calculators were invented. And Quartz clocks. And my dad had the 3rd PC ever in Germany And when Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins flew to the moon, we were allowed to stay up late and watch the first two hop around on TV. Oh, and I heard the Beatles live on radio. And saw the Blues Brothers movie premiere and the very first airing of TOS.
^I guess I'm lucky - at age 30 I still get ID'd in pubs and told I don't look over 20. I just thank them for the compliment and show them my ID card...
Hi everybody. I used to post when it was PsiPhi.org. I haent seen any names that I remember yet. I remember that some of the writers like Christopher Bennett and Margaret Something used to post. Is it still run by David Henderson, or is this completely different now. By the way I really am pretty old.
^ Your last name isn't Taylor, is it? The "regular customer discount"? I know of no such animal. I think it's just whichever waitperson thinks I look old, they give me the discount if they feel like it.
