Starkers agree about the British feel, but, if the right blend of darkness and humor, I think it would be OK.

For Servalan, I think I would be perfectly happy with Morena Baccaran reprising her Anna from NuV character, she had the hair, the style and I think that dangerous smoothness would work very well for an updated Servalan

Too obvious for me but I can see why they'd consider her.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
I always felt sad that Villa didn't get his end away a little more since he was the only one in the crew that seemed to know what sex was... Although if he wasn't always passing out drunk when the girls were looking for someone to scratch their itch?

Well he definitely got his end away at least once...but then so did Tarrant (with the Supreme Commander no less)

If you're standing on a planet named after you, it's a safe bet you're going to get lucky.

I agree with Gotham Central, BBC America is the obvious place for this show, if the point is to keep. British tone. If not, and this is a reboot like BSG or now Fuller's Munsters, meaning all bets are off, the options where it an be sold are wider. Either way, I'll check it out.

I think this could work. I haven't seen Green Lantern and I wouldn't necessarily say that Campbell is a great director but when he's on form - Goldeneye, Casino Royale, Zorro - he's on form.

At a time, I would have liked to see a sequel to B7 (the Napoleon on Elba idea) but too much time has elapsed for that to really occur. It's not like Doctor Who, where you can just have a new actor inhabit the role - to long-time fans, he's the latest incarnation, to newcomers, he's their Doctor. B7 carries too much baggage and backstory to do that and it hasn't stayed in the public consciousness the way DW did (even though it was actually quite a well-watched peak-time show in the UK in its day).

It's also like the difference between bringing back Star Trek and bringing back Battlestar Galactica - ST was famous enough to allow a sequel/ continuation, BSG simply wasn't; substitute Who for Trek and B7 for BSG. But like BSG, Blake's Seven has a premise which is strong enough to lend itself to a new take on it.

Without wishing to state the obvious, with the right writing, cast and tone, this could be really great. I think it should be something in the vein of nuBSG, perhaps not quite as downbeat as it got near the end.

I think Dervia Kirwan would make a better Servalan than Morena Baccaran.

Having just watched an ENT episode, I'm reminded of Dominic Keating. What role, if any, would he be good at here?

i Always thought Alan Tudyk would be great for Dorian in S4, especially if the story was changed slightly to keep Dorian for awhile

I think they'd be wisest to cast people who generally aren't associated with space opera shows. Would nuBSG's Adama have been as interesting had he been played by someone we'd already seen doing the space commander thing? Would nuDoctor Who have been as compelling with Patrick Stewart in the lead?

Personally, I've always thought that, for example, the various Stargate shows have looked very generic because of their tendency to cast in major roles actors from other space shows. True, they're not the only one to do so - nuBSG had Michelle Forbes, Richard Hatch and Nana Visitor among others - but few, if any, in the lead roles.

Why would casting actors from other sci-fi shows make the Stargate series look generic? There's plenty of other shows that do the same thing. And outside of Jewel Straite I can't think of another lead actor on a Stargate who was one of the leads on another sci-fi show.

^ They had two of the Farscape crew as leads in SG: Atlantis (Ben Browder and Claudia Black). And frequent guest appearances from various Trek actors - Connor Trineer, Robert Picardo, Colm Meaney and others. To me, this was another reason why it just didn't stand out from the crowd. It just felt like a get-together from other shows. Purely IMHO.

I think if you're going to say Stargate had a generic look it was more to do with the cast of Canadian actors who show up in every show from Smallville to BSG and Eureka.

Nana Visitor was never on BSG. Richard Hatch's inclusion was meant as an hoomage ot the original.
