Re: Power Rangers

It was produced by a big Hollywood producer, so they probably did have more money than most fan films get.

^ Do you think it was actually lower budget? Seems like more was done with it than I've seen in PR, though I haven't really been watching for many years.
Honestly, I would not be surprised if it really was cheaper than an episode. 14 minute short vs. 22 minute episode, but even then, we've seen fan films look close to this in sharpness thanks to current computer wizardry and time, as opposed to PR which tries to shove everything imaginable on a tight deadline. I'd hazard to guess that the cost to do this short is less than the cost to do an episode of PR (if Van Der Beek and Sackhoff did it for free because Shankar's a friend, then that's even more money saved -- it could be that the cast and crew probably did it for free as well, simply donating time and professional ability for free like a Star Trek fan film series on Youtube).

Well, a 20-minute episode, actually, several minutes of which are recycled Super Sentai footage. So it might come out to about the same amount of new content, give or take.

Re: Power Rangers

"Return of the Caveman" was an okay episode. It certainly made Koda more sympathetic, something the previous episode totally failed to do. And I liked it that the solution to escaping relied partly on Koda's prehistoric skills and partly on Koda learning to use modern technoogy -- a nice balance.

I still don't get how Koda can be so new to our civilization if he's been alive for 100,000 years. It'd make more sense if he'd been frozen in ice Encino Man-style -- although that seemed to be kind of what was being suggested in the teaser here, when he seemed to be falling into the ocean when his Energem empowered him. So maybe more Captain America than Encino Man -- perhaps the Energem let him survive being frozen until Kendall (?) unearthed him. But if so, I wish they'd say so.

So that's four Zords so far, and it looks like they swap out in combinations of three at a time, at least for now. Nice touch, though, having "Tricera" go off on a rescue mission while the other three were in Megazord mode to fight the monster.

Re: Power Rangers

Just edit in a few scenes of someone "looking for the brown ranger', slap 'A triple X parody' on the end and you are good to go.
