I completely agree with you. It's utterly idiotic, cruel, stupid - I think I'd need 5 dictionaries to only remotely describe those people. And it happens all the time. You should really think that by now really the very last village-idiot would have gotten it. But somehow common sense appears to die out rapidly these days. Locking them up in a hot unaired box seems an excellent idea to me.
