I agree with some of the comments there -- Sony is probably salivating at the idea of getting their hands on Bond. They've tried to use Kevin McClory's rights to launch their own Bond film franchise in the past.

^Yeah, Sony is now a part-owner of MGM, and both of the Craig Bond films have been released with both the MGM and Columbia logos in front.

Mmm. That report is so badly written, I have doubts about its veracity.

I love this kind of stuff.

"Some say the call lasted 6 1/2 hours. Others said it lasted 2 1/2 hours with lenders, and then the lenders themselves had a conference call that lasted another 2 hours."

In other words, whoever they got their information from was likely present for none of it and got everything through second or even third hand information. Which means this article is likely 3rd or 4th hand. So some of it might be true but I wouldn't accept it as 100% true.

Hasn't MGM been in constant terrible trouble for the last decade, if not more? I mean, this was a studio that was so cash strapped that it sold The Wizard of Oz to Warner Bros.!

While I'm sure Sony would love to own the rights to the Bond films I would imagine those rights would be pretty expensive. During their last financial year Sony's net income was more then negative one billion dollars, and their financial forecasts for their next financial year isn't looking any better.

I don't know the breakdown for different divisions so I'm not sure if Sony Pictures was making money or loosing money, but I just don't know if Sony would be in a position to purchase the Bond rights.

Hell, maybe Disney will buy 'em, and just for spite not re-name their Florida park the MGM Studios.

Seriously though, Disney seems to be buying everything else, so why not? It would be fun(?) to see a Disney-fied Bond on the screen.

The PS3 Slim rumors ad? I love that one, easily my favorite Playstation ad since some of the funny ones they did for PS2 games.

Then again I did follow the PS3 slim rumors pretty closely, and the ad almost seems like an injoke for people who knew about the rumors.

I don't like the change they made to appease the Nigerian government though, the new line about believing rumors on the Internet starting World War 1 doesn't even make sense.

I took it to mean that he read on the internet that World War I was started by people who believed rumours on the internet and believed it, implying that he is more gullible than the fake people he believes started World War One.

I thought it was pretty funny personally.

Someone will buy the name, someone will buy the library. The universe will keep spinning along.

This is hardly news to me.
