Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Is anyone here masochistic enough to purchase all 19 variant covers of Avengers 24 out next week?

I know some people make standing orders to collect all varients form the monkeys that work at their local, on the titles which they are interested in, but 19?

    Seriously?

    Frakk.

(I assume a directors cut edition will be out in a month or two, with 20 pages worth of a cover gallery and additional material.)

Even if they get an LCS pull list discount, like mine of 20% off cover, that's still ballpark $61 pre-tax for 19 variant covers.

Glad I'm more concerned with internal content.

We know "that Guy" at our local shop, we've seen him walking out of the shop with a long box under each arm, and we want his collection almost as much as we pity him.

Although if there's a special new cover for the directors cuts, can you imagine the perspex CCG icosahedron, they'd roll out as a complete set of Avengers 24?

    Here's some of the covers...

    (and some preview pages)

A lot of them seem to be homages/pisstakes of classic X-Men covers, and some old Avengers covers too. Why so X-Men heavy?

At least carrying it over to the start of next year for some reason. They've been doing X-Men variant covers all year long.

I read Scarlet Spider #25 and like "Fearless Defenders" final issue it kind of ended abruptly and felt rushed, obviously it was hinting that Kaine and Arceley's story will continue (probably in the new New Warriors book) but it was still a little disappointing that there was no real follow up to the previous issue. Still will miss this book a ton.

Just reading Origins II - At the stage, "Wolverine goes to live with some wolves" is maybe the most cliched and hackeyned thing to do with the character?

Couldn't he occasionally go and live with his namesakes - you know some actual weasels?

Weasels rejected him. Wolves were the only ones who would accept feral Logan ;)

I thought it was great. I'm really interested in seeing how Gillen uses Sinister in this. I'm guessing that bear was part of some experiment. Beautiful Andy Kubert art work again in this. I was pleasantly surprised, and I'm one of a few who loved the first "Origin".

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Jim Starlin returns to Marvel and his most famous creation, Thanos the mad Titan, in "The Infinity Revelation", a 100-page OGN.

He credits Walt Simonson for facilitating his making peace with and working for Marvel again.

The story is supposed to be set in current continuity, but Starlin says that he hasn't even read the final issue of "Infinity" yet!

Also, the story will feature the currently deceased Adam Warlock!:techman: Warlock is one of my favorite Marvel cosmic characters, so his return to the land of the living is a good thing to me.

CBR did their top 100 comics of the year, and Marvel walked away with three of their top 10. (Daredevil #9, Young Avengers #5, and Hawkeye came in at #1!)

I have no arguments. I buy all three of those books!:)

Surprisingly, their top rated DC book, Batman, was all the way down at 20!
ETA: That's not quite true. Their is a DC/Vertigo title at #8. Scott Snyder's "The Wake".
