Agreed. The whole bridge is like that. I saw a picture of the new bridge back when Trek 2009 first came out that showed it with all the "cosmetic mirror" lights turned off. I think the bar code scanners and other extraneous greebles were missing, too, so it might have been a CG rendering prior to construction, or someone might have added all those details after it was built. But either way, it was gorgeous. There's an amazing design lurking under all the extra junk and lights.
Nice pics. The one of Spock smoking on the transporter pad is amusing, no doubt after they beam him aboard from the volcano.
Maybe the Night Shift automatically turns off all the extra lighting and they need the spots for putting on their makeup in the morning...
If you folks had graduated from the Academy and had any clue how a starship bridge operates, you'd know what the light is for.
My take on the spotlights and the switch panels, they are contingency, backups for when emergency power is utilized after the mains get knocked out. [/nerd]
Why is Keenser growing on me? Is he some kind of fungus? And ... I like that cap, too. EDIT TO ADD: And another thing ... just where was the Doctor when all this happened?!
