Europa is my favourite place in the solar system and I do hope there is something there. Surprised at the thoughts regarding Venus because I had assumed it was hot there including in the upper atmosphere. and I didn't think much of Saturn's moon Titan. Certainly not that it could harbour life.

Interesting video and that bit at the end about the rapid signals. How can you dismiss something that is forming a mathematical parttern?

Something "glitched" with the probe this morning, and it's now operating in Safe Mode. The flight controllers are on it, but this is a headache they probably didn't want going into the encounter.

Well, shit, that's basically like 9 days before the flyby. If this happened 5 days later the mission would be dead. And there is still worry. Hope everything is flying on 14th. It's already been month with a blue moon and blue balls, and this could still be the biggest blue balls yet.

My hunch is that there was a bug in the encounter plan they uploaded to the probe last week that caused the reset to Safe Mode. Hopefully they get it sorted my mid-week.

I hope safe mode, issue or no issue, is prohibited during the flyby window.

It will depend on whether or not they can get the probe out of Safe Mode. I don't think anyone wants the probe to be in Safe Mode during the next ten days, because they can't do any science or take any pictures with it in Safe Mode.

I hope this is fixable, or NASA is NEVER gonna hear the end of it from conspiracy nuts...

Their fault. If they wished to avoid the conspiracy nuts, they shouldn't have covered up those alien spaceships they found on Pluto.

Well if I were a conspiracy nut I'd have to question the timing of this glitch...

I won't lie, just last week my inner pessimist said "Just watch, as NH approaches Pluto, something will cause the cameras to malfunction," and sure enough.

Perfect timing for me to find this Thread, Coco Pops, and nice one! :techman:

I agree with your sentiment, and I loved the Narrator's voice! Very unusual and compelling.

NH gets to Pluto the day I get home from here, so I'm likin' the Karma.

With apologies to all conspiracy theorists:

NASA is about to fix it. No hardware fault.

No, no, no. The Majestyk 12 committee had to have the probe turn itself off because it caught a fleet of alien craft passing the outer solar system; and they needed time to wipe the data and make sure the alien fleet had completed maneuvers and could no longer to observed by the probe.:techman::eek::wtf::rofl:

(What? My tinfoil hat fits perfectly, thanks. ;))
