Someday, I hope that there will be a documentary about Star Trek (maybe for its 50th anniversary) that's really high-calibre quality that doesn't play the whole franchise as a joke. Sure, there's some goofy elements throughout, but I had always hope there would be one that really brought some mainstream respect to this venerable franchise. I am still wowed by the 2004 Star Wars documentary, "Empire of Dreams" and wish that there would be one for Trek of that calibre. The closest was a 1991 25th Anniversary made-for-TV documentary hosted by Shatner and Nimoy. "Trek Nation" had a lot of good stuff in it, but I think it needed a better editor. Anyone else wish for a top notch 50th Anniversary in 2016?
*crickets chirping* No one? Not even a Ken Burns documentary? (very unlikely) So, does anyone have a favorite Trek documentary?
I'd definitely welcome this. "Empire of Dreams" is a stunning piece of work, and just the thought of something like that for the ENTIRE Trek story is frankly, a salivating prospect!
