Ok, we've discussed the best, now how about the worst songs about rock?

My choice would be Let's Get Rocked by Def Leppard

There is a song by Sammy Hagar, I can't remember the title, but it has some of the worst song lyrics about rock:

Check the hands on the clock
    It's 8:05
    It's time to rock

I wasn't aware that there was very a specific time to start rocking.

If you are too young to remember this abortion, consider yourself lucky.

I nominate a band that I actually like most of their stuff: Frehley's Comet's song "We Got Your Rock". The song is pretty benign, but the the lyric is ridiculous. Granted, all the lyrics KISS ever wrote were pretty much worthless, so Ace didn't have much to build on.

8.05 is a reference to when rock shows often start.

    Shooting Star by Bad Company.

^^ thanks for the clarification on the 8:05 voggmo.
I'd also like to nominate Eric Clapton's Rock n' Roll Heart. The biggest snoozefest about rock n' roll ever.

The song is Hagar's "There's Only One Way to Rock". The meaning of the lyric was that, while many bands at that time would roll onstage at 9:30 or 10 or 10:30 for a show advertised to begin at 8:00, Hagar made it a point to be out there playing when it said they'd be playing.

It's still a stupid song with a stupid riff.

    Huh, always liked that one.

How about "Rock 'til You Drop" - was it by Def Leppard? Really dumb, anyway.

Given a little time, I'm sure I'll think of some more.

I like half the solo, (beginning part), on Only 1 Way to Rock. Riff's ok.

Sammy had good work ethic. I once heard him say he saw a band that came out & played 10 minutes & split. & he vowed he would never ever EVER do THAT to an audience. Only saw him once in 78 opening for VH, Sabbath & Boston. Amazing bill it was.

Shooting Star bores me with the drug messages. A. Not all rockstars do em. B. No one forced the rock stars that do do em to do em.

As for Leppard, Let's Get Rocked is lame. I bumped into Vivian Campbell last week, I didn't mention that to him.

Rock And Roll Lullaby - BJ Thomas

Both possibly worse than the worst of the white cover songs.

I'm gonna be booed but "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sisters is awful...
And no, I don't think the Eighties had a certain "charm".

Does that Kid Rock song about how much it sucks to be a famous rawk star, written before he was a famous rawk star, count?

Boo! Anybody who mentions Dee Murray gets booed.

One of my favorite moments in a record store back in the vinyl days involved this record.

I was a 3-4 times a week regular at the store, so it was almost, "Hi, Norm!" when I arrived. Twisted Sister was in a waterfall display right up front, hot on the charts. As I walked in and we all said hello, I impulsively grabbed copy of Twisted Sister, and holding the record in both hands, brought it down, hard, on the edge of the store's counter. CRACK! It split in two. I rotated it 90° and smashed it down again on the counter's edge. CRACK! I threw the record on the counter, now quartered but still sealed in the sleeve, and told them to add it to my bill.

It was the best thing you could do to a Twisted Sister record.

Nickelback's I Wanna Be a Rock Star is not only the worst rock song about rock, but possibly the worst rock song ever, with the possible exception of Kid Rock's current abomination-like rip-off of Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama. Both are bad excuses for rock music for people who don't like real rock music.
