In Praise of TOS-TAS Imagery (Ships - Updated 5/5) The TOS-TAS era remains my favorite, for many and detailed reasons that I won't go into here So I thought I'd share some of my ship image creations from the last few years. Thanks for viewing! A Federation dilithium freighter controls two robotic drone freighters in a convoy. The crew of the stranded Archer class scout, Rama, tow their ship over land by novel means in a plan to fix their crippled steed. Space is big A Starfleet member takes in the first sight of her new ship posting from the windows of a starbase. The Enterprise cruises above the disc plane of a huge asteroidal belt system. The Constellation II rolls out to a Class I honor guard in Earth orbit. I'll probably upload more later. Keep an eye for updates
These are all wonderful! Except... Why not? I'd love to have this be a discussion as well as a gallery. I bet you have some interesting things to say about it all! --Alex
Hey, thanks for the kind words, all!!!!! I'd be happy to discuss it... just maybe in a different thread
Hi, Rob. Welcome to the BBS. I've been a fan of your art since Traveller. You even sold me a copy of the MegaTraveller Referee Kit over one of the USENet (or maybe FidoNET, don't remember which) echoes, and threw in an original piece of art, which I'm not sure I've ever thanked you for.
Nice work in both threads! You did artwork for Traveller? Did you do any for FASA? The people style looks similar to some of the stuff from the original Battletech "House" source books.
If I remember right (I've been gaming for over 35 years), I've seen Rob (Caswell) artwork in Traveller, FASA's Star Trek (I think), I believe some of West End's Star Wars, and probably a lot I'm forgetting. And I believe he was one of the founders of www.starshipmodeler.com .
Both Arcas-Art (under a not-too-clever pseudonym) and wmconnors mysteriously appearing on TrekBBS at the same time? Suspicious... Is this some kind of attempted shadow coup d'etat by Deviant and "preverted" Artists?
I did a little bit with them, but not that much. I had a bunch of work in their ST:TNG Officer's Manual, like:
