The Simon and Schuster online catalogue has been updated with the first blurbs for the four TOS novels coming in 2013:

Allegiance in Exile kinda sounds like stuff we've already had - I'm sure there'll be a new spin on it but not too interested from that.

Devil's Bargain sounds meh. double meh if it's the klingons or the romulans in "unexpected ally" status.

The Weight of Worlds & The Folded World both have interesting premises.

That last one sounds right up my alley. I already love the title, too.

Here's hoping the two new writers find their way to our board's shores soon! I wonder if it would be all too forward to contact and invite them? (Assuming they have websites.)

Edit: Whoops, one new writer! I forgot about Jeff Mariotte's Lost Era novel, Deny Thy Father!

Okay, that blurb for my book is based on an old draft of the outline. There is no "Coven" in the actual book.

My thoughts exactly. I'd only add that Weight of Worlds sounds a bit more exciting to me with it's extra-galacticness and "gateways". While The Folded World at this first glance sounds rather like The Time Trap, Elite Force, etc.

Still something as exotic as described above though I hope?

FWIW, I fired off messages to Mr. Daniel and Mr. Mariotte, pointing them at the sub-forum and this thread, politely inviting them to pay us a visit.

Tony Daniel is, but as Sho posted earlier; Jeff Mariotte has previously written the Lost Era novel Deny Thy Father.

At least it doesn't look like it's too full of TOS...

TOS-heavy few months right before the movie premier is good, I think. Those books will all be on shelves after it hits, so people will have plenty of books to buy.

But I'm a pretty big 24th century cheerleader, and the year from Children of the Storm to Plagues of Night was a really long year. I hope we get some more of that stuff in the summer and fall next year.

Nailed it. Though I'll probably pick up DRGIII's novel based on him alone.

The Folded World sounds right up my alley...

Yeah I'll pretty much buy anything DRG3 writes at this point.

I'll wait on reviews for the other 3; TOS isn't usually my favorite.

They all sound pretty good, but it's still early to decide if they are definite buys for me.

They're all definite buys for me - even the TOS stuff I'm not that fired up by. Guess I'm an addict...

Hmm. Sounds like Allegiance in Exile will cover some of the same territory as DTI: Forgotten History....

^And DC's "The Final Mission" annual. And IDW's Mission's End miniseries. Part of the fun of not having a strictly unified tie-in continuity is that you can explore alternate possible versions of a single event. (I wonder if this version will be in continuity with Crucible.)
