The TOS Enterprise is 948ft/289 meters in length and the New Enterprise is 2550 ft/777.242 meters in length. Remember they mention that the new Enterprise saucer section diameter is the same as a Nimitz class carrier length, which is 1092ft/334.8423 meters.

How did the Klingons hide that big a$$ Narada from the Federation for 25 years? I'm sure the Klingons are under surveillance.

Hell. Our government knows when Ahmadinejad takes his trash to the curb:lol:.

Of course the beauty is, you could just choose to believe whatever you want, if it's easier to accept, then just accept it. No one's forcing anyone to accept any particular explanation or reality...

The more egregious error is that the Klingons didn't capitalize on their discovery. It seems that the Federation were the ones who benefited the most from the data collected from the Narada, as demonstrated by the new ship.

Where we get a name for this new ship? I hope so.

The Dreadnought is the same colour as the Narada was. Coincidence, or an ubership built from reverse-engineered technology?

Borg technology? That's where GATT2000 would fit in.

That's why I just ignore the entire Klingon subplot from STXI. It just causes too many plot holes to keep, while you can just say "Nero and crew took 25 years to fix the giant hole in their ship and build up a giant supply of missiles."

That's the cutting-edge stealth technology that man had in earlier times (KNIGHTRIDER'S KITT for example), but was probably lost during WW3.

I don't think that much time has passed since the last movie.

A brief shot of Enterprise taking a beating around Earth's Moon seems to support your theory. One thing that bugged me was 'why would there be smoketrails in space?'. After a shot by shot examination it seems that the Dreadnought is indeed sending Enterprise projectiles back at her, hitting her both with it's weaponry and directing her own weapons back.. in the shot with the huge nacelle explosion a glimpse of the smoketrail is visible to originate from E's neck, where torpedo tubes are... Of course, photon torpedos do not leave a trail*, but this would have been added to emphasise the effect here...

*(anyway, in the newewst TV spot Enterprise is seen to leave trails like a regualr airliner within the atmosphere, maybe it's a new feature in this movie)

Who says they didn't capitalize? The new ride they're sporting in Countdown Into Darkness looks about the size of the Abramsprise (and presumably we'll see it in STID).

That doesn't explain why the Kelvin seems more advanced than even the TNG-era, even before the Narada appeared. :)

I explain away all the differences that cannot be ascribed to the Narada with the fact that this is the Enterprise timeline that was started when the Enterprise E came back from the future in First Contact.
