Believe it or not, that was an ultra quick job. I actually did it in Microsoft Paint.:)

I'm not exactly a great digital artist myself. If I get time, I may try something with some more detail. Once again, thanks for the compliments. I'm just glad somebody could actually see it.

Thanks for not giving up, Zim. I like it. A long time ago in this thread, someone put red bussards, the old style satellite dish deflector and some other changes to the new E. Unfortunately, I have no 'shop skills whatsoever... yours looks really good!

^^ I had to trim much of the brim of the sombrero to make it fit properly if that's what you mean.

I think the big guy would wear a sombrero had the time and place been different, it's is/was a common man's hat and He was a common man...kinda like Indiana Jones' choice for the holy grail. Anyways, a tortilla is just unleavened bread in another form.

And the Mods shone their countenance upon that Photoshop...and yea, it was acceptable. :)

The way I see it, modern Easter tradition was the result of an earlier "Blue Warp Nacelles" thread.

Some innocent monk asked his companions what color Brother Abraham was going to make Jesus' eyes in the soon-to-be released resurrection tapestry. Before he knew it, the other monks started insisting that they Jesus eyes vector back and forth, that Jesus should be a giant rabbit made of chocolate, and that brightly colored eggs should be hidden all over the tapestry.

Naturally they were all burned as witches. But the holiday stuck.

We all will if somebody dares Photoshop that tapestry.

So... Who's up to it? :shifty:

FWIW, I am a practicing Christian and I was not insulted nor offended. Had it used googly-eyes, etc. I probably would be offended, but as presented... it is actually beautiful.

    ^ Agreed. I wasn't offended either.

I actually think Jesus had a sense of humor. So He would approve of some light hearted fun. :) (And He'd definitely wear a sombrero where appropriate)

Same here. My previous response was an attempt at humor. I should've put a smiley there. Unfortunately, we Christians are few and far between in the world of Trek fandom.

Thanks for the encouraging words MLB, Sector 7, & Zim.

I searched high and low (actually just Google images) for the right image, most of them display Jesus as some white guy, there's also dealing with halos and bright lights, etc which make the sombrero difficult to add or make it verging on the sacreligous. This image seemed most appropriate to sombreroize and share with my other congregation here at BWN. --Rev. JPtrekker

So long as you don't put a sombrero on RAPTOR Jesus...I think you can avoid a real shitstorm on this board. Some things are just TOO sacred to the posters. :p
