I've got two favourates to portray thw 12th doctor, Jason Fleyming because we could do with an older doctor, but yet not too old, and he has a nie humour to him, he'd be like an older version of David Tennant, plus the doctor would finaly get to be ginger! My other choice would be Idris Elber because this would be a contoversal doctor, and this is Idris Elba we're talking about, he's a great actor! he'd portray a more street wise and darker doctor, right up my street! What does everyone else think?
I know this will never happen but I'd like to have an old man Doctor again, played by someone like Bill Nighy or Derek Jacobi.
You probably won't know him, but a stage actor named Oliver Millingham. Just has that Doctorish something.
I've thought about that myself often, I'd definitely be interested in seeing him get an audition or even one of the Phelps Twins that played Ron's brothers Fred and George I've seen Idris Elba floated many times, I don't see it, what intrigues people so much about him that makes them think he'd be good as the Doctor?
He wouldn't be. I've admired the guy for years, ever since he was the best thing about Ultraviolet (which is saying something) but he's not the Doctor. He's completely wrong for the part, and its not cos he isn't a good actor (cos he is) and it isn't about ethnicity (hey I'm the guy who'd still have Patterson Joseph).
My thoughts exactly, ever since I saw him in Survivors and people have mentioned him, I could totally picture Paterson Joseph as the Doctor, but, as you say, as good an actor as Idris Elba is I just can't imagine he would work out for The Doctor
That would be quite left field, I think he can be quirkier than he's had the chance to be, certainly his mulleted turn in Ashes to Ashes was funny...
Well, Hugh Laurie is currently out of a job. Perhaps better for the next Master or another guest shot though. I like the unknown/not-yet-established actor thing though. Smith is just The Doctor. I don't have to worry about seeing the man behind it or another character he has played, he is just The Doctor. Period. End statement.
