^I always wanted to have both the space and the money to collect a big Dept. 56 display. That stuff is adorable. Amazing photos, as always, Saga. I particularly like the upward view of the trees and the close-up of the mushroom.
While enjoying the warm and sunny weather today , I came across this fountain on Kerteminde Town Square: First thing on my mind was: "Is that an Alien egg?"
Catarina, I love the tile with the flowers. Grampa Australis, congrats! Mr. Laser Beam and myself at lunch today:
Just for everyone's edification, we had awesome crab cakes, BTW. And leave it to me to pick a hot day like this to dress all in BLACK.
Nice photo! Tora Ziyal, I love your asymmetric hairstyle! It looks great and makes me want to give something similar a try!
Went on a little drive (and a long walk) with my friend yesterday... He's not able to take a walk for the sake of taking a walk so we ended up with a bit of (roadside and beach) greenery and whatnot...
Very pretty sky...but all I can think about is one of your neighbors still has a Christmas wreath on their door!
You should come to my area. There are some people who leave disconnected Christmas lights on the outsides of their homes all year. A blind elf with Santa's bag over his head could notice them.
Holy crap, that's awesome! Very beautiful, Saga. OK, now I feel stupid posting my crappy little snap shots, but here there are: I went to the Faberge exhibit at the Museum of Natural Science. Some local family has been collecting Faberge for freakin' ever, and have allowed their collection to be put on display--but only in Houston. It was really something. The pictures don't do it justice--it's all behind thick glass, under dim yellow lights. They let anyone take pictures but there can be no flash, so the pics just don't come out right, especially with a cheap pocket camera like mine. Faberge was jeweler and goldsmith to the Russian imperial court, from 1885 until the revolution of 1917, so most of the pieces in the exhibit at one time belonged to the Romanovs at some point. cigarette cases, in gold and enamel cane-topper: a little jade hippo with ruby eyes card box, stone (marble?) and enamel trinket and snuff boxes, 1) enamel, silver and diamonds 2)enamel, gold and diamonds There were a few of these itty-bitty flowers, but what's amazing is that every bit of it--even the pot-is handcrafted. It's a quartz pot, so it looks like water, a gold stem, enamel leaves, sapphires and diamonds for the flower.
auntiehill, I'd say your camera (and you, too!) did a pretty good job of capturing the exhibit. You can see a lot of the incredibly detailed work on such ornate objects. Thank you for sharing them! Saga, those are great macros, but I especially like the sunburst through the leaves of grass and blue sky. Really nicely done! Here are a handful of my recent uploads:
Pondwater, thanks. Auntiehill, the exhibit looks fabulous, and I think your photos came out remarkably well for no flash. Ancient Mariner, I always enjoy your cityscapes. Especially love the composition in this one:
