Yeah. Or free, as it has been the case of four c-store only races that will become freely available in-game.

The people that paid money for them are rightfully pissed at the move.

Please explain what in the act of paying for something gives one the right to dictate its price for eternity. GoG has Blake Stone on sale for $2.99; do the people who paid $30 for it in 1993 have grounds for a class action lawsuit?

Nobody put a gun to those people's head (which includes me, BTW) and said "you will buy this now".

City of Villains used to be a separate purchase from City of Heroes; now it's included, and soon both will be free. Burning Crusade used to cost $50. Now it's available bundled with WoW for less than WoW itself used to cost; essentially, free.

It's an MMO. Prices go down over time. Items get introduced at one price and become cheaper or free later. You choose at the time of launch; do I want it now badly enough to pay this price, or do I wait until it's cheaper or free?

We chose; if we wanted our sparklekitties NOW, we paid the THREE WHOLE DOLLARS for them.

IMHO if anybody complains, Cryptic should give them their three dollars back, and charge a four dollar processing fee.

Correction; it has been pointed out to me that Burning Crusade is no longer EFFECTIVELY free; it's just plain old free now with the base game, since a couple of months ago.

I haven't played STO in awhile. I was just wondering how the new Enterprise-F and her crew has been utilized in the games storyline.

Hasn't happened yet. They've been "all hands on deck" for the last couple of months on the codebase resync between their four current projects and preparation for the coming F2P.

And fixed; it's not optimal, but it works.

Not sure If i'll renew my membership, i might until the end of October, but after that I am quite sure I won't be a paying member, i still have my original 500 credits, not sure what to do with these, I really don't see a reason to spend these on anything. Everything I want (with in the game) I already have.

As to our fleet, not sure how active our little fleet is, it seem dead, anyone actually in the fleet,I have a felling i am on my own most of the time, I tried to do few borg missions with few fleet members (i've got full borg gear, just for fun of it) but there's no one to go with. :(

    Has our fleet disbanded?

No, it's not dead, just small.
We have been around since the beginning going stronger sometimes and sometimes people take a bit of a break.
me, I was on vacation the last few days.
Most members I know are on a European timetable.
I would suggest you stick around.
Content should start pouring back into the game within the next few weeks and the fleet members will come back with the new stuff...

No firm date yet, just "by the end of the year." There's been lots of speculation, however, that it will hit right around the holiday season, some of which has been fueled by statements from Cryptic about the holiday window in relation to content and so on.

I certainly hope it goes F2P soon. I'm still gonna pay a sub fee, but I'd like the option.

    My Pi cents:

I own the Assault Cruiser. It's a beautiful ship, but I don't use it. I use the Advanced Heavy Cruiser Refit instead. It allows my character's Tac BO to use the LCDR skill Dispersal Pattern Alpha (drops 10 mines out the tailpipe). Precede that with the Eject Warp Plasma to slow/stop enemies, you could take out a few without firing a shot.

I stick with one type of weapon. My main char uses Plasma exclusively, Plasma beams, torp, mines. (My other char uses Phasers/Photons.) I get a lot of mileage from Plasma against the Borg. I receive some criticism from other players but I'm the one left standing when the fighting is over.

All my weapons (ship or personal) have the CrtH attribute. Most have it 2 or 3 times. Some mix it with Acc or CrtD. All weapons X or higher. All weapons blue or purple.

My fore weapon build is Plasma Beam x 2, Dual Plasma Beam, Plasma Torp
Aft weapon build is Plasma Beam x 3, Plasma Mines

I have the universal Borg console and the Aegis set. You may want to consider one or two Aegis pieces. STOked had an episode on mixing the Borg and Aegis equipment.

I also use the Red Matter Capacitor and Weapons Batteries, plus Emergency Power to Weapons to keep the beams at high power.

Double consoles don't stack well. You'll only see a small increase. Recommend that you put something to boost torps. You currently have three torps. The cooldown period is going to get you killed. Perhaps just have one fore and one aft.

I normally have two hull enhancements in the engineering slots. One for resistance against general damage and one against specific beam damage.

It looks like you're playing a Tac officer. Have you respec'd for the Assault Cruiser?

    Hope this helps.

Actually torpedo boat are becoming an option, They reduced the global cooldown to 1 second. Means you can fire the already rapid fire photons every two seconds on average now, if you use 4 launchers I believe.
Of course I would only recommend that in a cruiser where you get at least 4 beams on top of that for a minimum broadside.

The new torpedo GCD makes me wonder how effective an LRSV Retrofit would be as a torpedo boat. I'm thinking Tachyon Harmonic plus built-in Beam Target Shields Subsystem plus Charged Particle Burst to attack shields, then activate Ablative Armor and start churning out photons.

It'll be a while before I'm in a position to try it out (I don't plan on starting a Sci Captain until the new tutorial is out), but what does everyone else think?

The GCD change for torpedoes is good. I always thought it strange that you were only allowed to fire one torpedo tube at a time. My friend will be glad to hear this info as he's been wanting to build a torp boat.

Perhaps I'll make something with a Star Cruiser. Four Tetyron beams and Tachyon Harmonic plus Beam Target Shields Subsystem to lower shields with four torpedoes.

Better take an Assault cruiser or if you have it, the Excelsior. Starcruiser will be useless as a torpboat because of it's poor turnrate.
Which is a pity, the Starcruiser would be perfect for this, the ship has forwardfiring port and starboard tubes!
It should be able to fire them 360. Or at least be the only ship firing torps broadside instead of front and rear. Now there is a retrofit ability!

cheers, actually fitting on sov is just what I scavenged from m bank, as it was taking bank slots, so i've decided to put them somewhere useful, but wanted to find what;s the best mix for sov. What is your character nick in game?

and again thanx for your extensive and to the point reply, very informative and very precise, just what i asked.

Judging by PvP, it's a very popular and effective build. You may find a tac captain in a sci ship will provide better results damage wise.

Yeah, I considered that, but I'm already working on changing my Tac Captain from an Assault Cruiser to a Tactical Escort Retrofit - don't really want to change him up for a Sci ship now.

Edited to add: Via an official forum thread, Executive Producer Daniel Stahl is leaving Cryptic.
