Yeah Caviezel's basically batman on "Person Of interest". It's even got an Nolan on board. Sorry I meant specificially action scenes. Caviezel would be talk as batman, turn his head as batman but when an action starts Stunt man Caviezel's been rumored for Superman for ages Bomer for Superman Somerhalder was considered for batman before and after he starred in "Smallville" as a guy named Adam Knight. If Synder is leaning towards long standing fan favorites then these 3 would be it.
Never liked Somerhalder. And Bomer was a good Superman in the animated Superman Unbound, and has the face for it (but not the height), but as Batman? I don't see that. Here's a thought: Does Batman need to be white? The current Batman in animation, on Beware the Batman, is played by Anthony Ruivivar, an English- and Spanish-speaking Hawaiian native with partially Chinese and Filipino ancestry. And Superman has been played by the half-Japanese Dean Cain. Certainly mixed-race actors of unclear ethnicity could be cast, but there are billionaires in the country who are black or Asian or Latino, so there's no reason Bruce Wayne couldn't be one. (Back in the early '90s, I thought that Michael Dorn would make a very impressive Batman.) So maybe we should broaden the pool of potential candidates beyond people who match the traditional appearance of the character. Any thoughts?
"I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you." *fwoosh* "... Which reminds of that one time my mentor, Ra's Al Ghul, got legitimately peeved at me when I filled all the practice dueling scabbards with leftover white, pink and red heart-shaped confetti on April Fool's Day, so when we all drew our sticks, it was like a spontaneous Festival of Love. 'Gertrude,' he said, 'if you ever do that again, the last thing you'll see will be my hand on my throat.' I'm pretty sure he was laughing inside, though. [cheery yet mellow indie song starts] "And speaking of hands, his dojo was a place where everyone always had a spare hand to lift a brother up, no matter how much vengeance was in his soul. When you're battling a lifetime's worth of inner demons, it's nice to know you don't have to battle each other, too." ... No joke: I would watch the hell out of a Cavill-Supes vs. Braff-Bats movie.
How about one just follows up on Dark Knight Rises and go with Joseph Gordon Levitt? He's a very good actor, he's established and they heavily hinted at him taking up the suit at the end of the movie and it would tie in Nolan's movies with the greater DC universe. The only drawback would be that he just isn't Bruce Wayne but if the script is solid i could overlook that.
^If Lennix were a decade or so younger, he'd be a great choice. Well, if he weren't already General Swanwick, of course.
Completely off topic but how about this: General Swanwick revealed to be one of the many human guises of J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter? Launches him straight into Justice League.
LOL, I just can't look at Zach Braff anymore without seeing the Monkey from Oz, The Great and Powerful
I have seen some people say that Idris Elba, from Pacific Rim, would be a good Batman and I agree. I wouldn't mind him in the role at all.
The "only drawback"? Wasn't Clark already enough of a dick in MOS without having frittered away several months in various coastal towns pouring drinks or whatever instead of finding and disarming Bane's bomb?
^ And nobody happened to bemoan the fact that Superman wasn't around anymore? How very... unpersuasive. I mean, I like to pretend that Celeste and Jesse Forever takes place in the same continuity as Seven Psychopaths, but I feel that's less of a stretch...
Well, I love Elba ever since LUTHER, and on that show we saw him as an emotionally crippled, highly intelligent detective who's no problem getting physical. So, on some level, he could work. On the other hand, the hardcore fan in me knows that the Wayne money is old money. Bruce inherited Wayne Enterprises, yet his father was a doctor who couldn't really create a multi-billion dollar company, so even he must have had inherited. You could have Bruce be adopted, but then he'd be orphaned twice, which seems kinda silly. The only way I can think of to make Bruce black without heavily changing the character background would be to make his mother black, with Bruce being a mulatto. Yeah, I know, I'm overly geeky about this, but then, the whole argument is purely geeky, because there's no way in hell WB is casting a black actor as Batman. Btw, JMS and Gary Frank had a "black Batman" in the form of Nighthawk in SUPREME POWER and the following books on that Squadron Supreme.
Well there's always the pesky detail that in the Dark Knight continuity, Superman doesn't exist at all. No pretending needed.
He isn't even Batman. He's just "the new Dark Knight". As far as the population of Gotham knows, Batman is dead, so this is clearly not the same guy. I guess you could call him "mini-Batman" or "Batman II" or something...
To be truthful I could easily see how Cavill's Superman fits into the Dark Knight Trilogy. Cavill's Clark Kent was trying to avoid public attention, remember his Father said to him after the bus incident that maybe he should have let his classmates die to keep his secret. And then sacrificed his own life (admittedly rather stupidely) a few years later when the tornado hit. And he didn't seem that sure of himself either, could Cavill's Superman have really lifted the siege of Gotham and disposed of the bomb before Talia set it off? I'm not sure. Now carrying a guilt trip for not stepping in to save Gotham might be something that spurs Clark into being Superman. I can just see it now whilst tending bar in one of those drinkiong holes up north whenever the news would come on and give an update on what was going on in Gotham, Clark might turn the TV over to avoid listening to it. Also Clark becoming Superman in the Dark Knight universe would be the ultimate extention of Bruce Wayne's aim of inspiring people to stand up for what's right by his donning the mantle of Batman. Oh and in case you haven't guessed it and in spite of everything said in the last seven days opr so by Christian Bale and Warners, I want Bale back. Just think of the meltdown on the web the day the first official photo of Bale and Cavill together in costume comes out?
You would be okay with but a million fans would cry blasphemy A Superman VS batman movie would excite fans because it's bruce wayne and clark kent meeting. These's characters have history Bruce Wayne is batman Superman meeting a nobody who was created specifically for a Nolan film would deflat the epic meeting between Batman and Superman No one would care about Robin Blake since they don't know his history, pain and training
^I'm curious, though... what if Gordon-Levitt's character in the film had been named Terry McGinnis? The first African-American to own a billion-dollar company was Reginald Lewis, who acquired Beatrice International Foods in 1987 and was listed by Forbes as one of the 400 richest Americans in 1992, a year before he died. If we assume a Batman who was born in the early 1980s, making him a bit over 30 now, his parents certainly could've been worth hundreds of millions by the time of their murder c. 1990. They wouldn't have inherited, but he could have. And who says Thomas couldn't have created a corporation? Maybe he started out as a doctor, but invented some medical advance that made him rich, or bought a pharmaceutical manufacturer or something. Sure, traditionally the Waynes are portrayed as old money, but adaptations let you reinvent things. That's a rather outdated term for it, but yes, there are quite a lot of biracial Americans today and quite a lot of biracial or multiracial performers in show business. One can't really discuss ethnicity in America today without acknowledging how much overlap there is. We've had a half-Japanese Superman, a half-Chinese Lana Lang, and as I mentioned, the man currently voicing Batman on TV is part-Asian; plus the multiethnic Keanu Reeves has played DC character John Constantine, however much people would like to forget that. Plus we've got a number of big action stars today who are of mixed or ambiguous ethnicity, such as Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. So it's certainly plausible that Bruce could be of mixed parentage. No reason why not. Remember when Nick Fury was white? Seems weird these days.
