Yeah I'm curious if they're planning to introduce any new characters (to later be inserted in an Avengers sequel), or are they just going to stick with these ones for a while?

And as for Cap, I think it's probably a good idea to set any sequels in the present day. It's fine to have a few flashbacks to WWII, but ultimately the idea of him in the modern world is a far more interesting one, I think.

@davejames I fully expect them to get around to the Winter Soldier story as has been discussed earlier in this thread. Most likely we'll meet Sharon Carter if we don't see her in a cameo in "Avengers" first.

Just for reference, the current Marvel Studios schedule is:

    - Iron Man 3, May 3 2013
    - Thor 2, November 15 2013
    - Captain America 2, April 4 2014

    Outside of Marvel Studios:
    - The Wolverine, July 26, 2013
    - The Amazing Spider-Man 2, May 2, 2014

I think my ideal stories for the sequels would be Baron Zemo, and perhaps Arnim Zola, in Cap 2, and then Winter Soldier combined with the return of the Red Skull in Cap 3. That's assuming the Red Skull doesn't reappear during The Avengers, of course.

Fox still has to schedule "Fantastic Four" and "Daredevil", and First Class 2.

I'm still holding out hope that the rights to the Fantastic Four will revert back to Marvel. I know it probably won't happen, but I wish it would. :ouch:

Me too unfortunately they're not since Fox is doing reboots. The rights are the only reason reboots are happening as I tried to point out a few times in the Spider-Man thread. Now with the Disney merger, both Fox and Sony know that Marvel is chomping at the bit to reacquire their characters. Basically the studios need to keep chalking out movies for them to retain the rights to those characters is how it works. I had kind of hoped they'd make a push for both FF and DD but not the case.

Any reason why Thor gets pushed to November?

^ Probably because of "Iron Man 3"?

I think part of the reason was the change in directors, too. But I don't mind the change. This way we get less of a gap between MCU movies. Plus Thor seems kind of like a wintery character, anyway. Must be the Norse thing. :p

X-Men First Class 2 starts shooting in January, so may be another for 2014...

I would say summer time 2014 is probably a very likely date for FC2. Maybe June or July.

That makes sense to me. Two straight years of (hopefully good) X-movies. :techman:

I'm just glad that they seem to have worked out Jennifer Lawrence's shooting schedule conflicts.

So are they officially doing new DD and F4 movies then? I thought those were just rumors.

This sounds more like spit-balling to me than anything concrete but it's speculation based off some comments about Ant-Man and a Nick Fury film.

Ant-Man to first turn up in Captain America 2 perhaps? Then open as the May 16(untitled film?)

Ant-Man likely would be better served being set up in either Cap 2 or a Fury film. It would take the edge off of the stigma the character has(in comic/film circles) cause the general audiences don't know anything about him to have a bias. Why Ant-Man sounds any sillier than Spider-Man, Bat Man or Iron Man has always had me scratching my head.

I just wanna know one thing and one thing only:

Will Hayley Atwell be in Captain America 2? 'Cos I'm deeply skeptical of the idea it'll even be worth seeing if she's not.
