Well, Dr. Watson is now an Asian-American woman, and Frankenstein is a hunky, demon-fighting warrior, and Dracula is a steampunk inventor fighting an evil oil cartel, so I wouldn't say modern Hollywood is exactly adverse to making radical changes to old stories . . . :)

Aren't they all TV shows though, rather than big budget Hollywood movies?

I, Frankenstein is an upcoming movie, and lord knows the Tim Burton versions of Sleepy Hollow and Alice in Wonderland played fast and loose with the original stories.

And, heck, Rise was a pretty radical reinvention of the old Apes movies.

I'm just glad they didn't bother following up on that god awful Tim Burton remake.

    Where is everybody?

Dang. Is nobody interested in the new trailer? That doesn't bode well for the potential box office.

I loved that that trailer and has made me even more excited about the film. Unfortunately, I have to wait three extra weeks for the film to come out here in Belgium.

I guess that's the price I have to pay for getting both Godzilla and Days of Future Past two days early.

I think that trailer is pretty amazing. Definitely hoping to see this one in the theater.

I saw that trailer but hadn't seen the thread. I loved it, this looks great. I really like the fact that they don't just suddenly have all of the apes suddenly speaking perfect English.
I also really like the fact that this isn't just going to be Apes vs Humans the whole movie. From some of the interviews I've read, it sounds like it's going to be dealing a lot with the internal conflicts in the two groups, just as much as humans vs apes.

    In the man's own words:

"I had a take on the sequel which didn’t marry with the studio’s [take]. Regardless, I was hired to direct RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES against all odds, and I was given that opportunity by a studio and producers who were prepared to take a chance on me. For that I’m very grateful."

    Creative Differences...

    Bummer :scream:

Cannot wait!!!...do you suppose people that watched Rise even realized some of the incredible film making involved in the overall look and feel, and the conveyance of emotion and intelligence in Caesar and the others?...I found myself in constant amazement...
