I'm halfway through the Harry Potter series, just having finished Goblet of Fire. It's been interesting seeing how things in the movies were done differently from the books (and seeing why). I've enjoyed the reads so far!
Just picked up a crap load of free ebooks off of Project Gutenberg and a couple off of Bean's Free Library. That's the Baen Free Library. I'd imagine Bean's Free Library would be something involving Rowan Atkinson.
Just finished up with Taking Wing. An excellent read and much better than I remembered, hopefully a catalyst with me seeing Titan all the way through this time as Sword of Damocles and Over a Torrent Sea damaged my enthusiasm somewhat. Next up will be That Which Divides but as that isn't released until Tuesday, I'll be dipping into Star Trek II Short Stories.
I wanted to start on Orion's Hounds, but had to order a copy off Amazon.com that might not be delivered until the middle of next month, so I had to find something else to read, and got lucky in finding a copy of Old Wounds, the first volume in Christie Golden's Voyager duology Spirit Walk, at a used book sore called Eborn Books, so that's what I'm reading right now.
Thanks, Sakrysta. Unfortunately, I live in the Third World when it comes to the latest releases. For the UK, we wouldn't see this book until April/May. Thank God I switched to the Kindle a couple of years ago.
Of late, Michael Connelly's Void Moon, the first DW NSA, the Clockwise Man, and now the first of John Connolly's Charlie Parker series, Every Dead Thing. Next up will be A Clash Of Kings, if the wife has finished it by then.
I've decided to re-read all the relaunch novels starting with Voyager, Homecoming. It's been awhile since I read many of them and I've forgotten alot. I intend to read them in chronological order per Memory Beta.
Some time ago, I got my hands on the Janus Gate trilogy by L A Graf. Ive always been more of a TNG/DS9/VOY guy myself but I have nothing against TOS just need to be in the mood for it. Last night, I picked up book 1: Present Tense and I knocked out 70 pages before I set it back down, Im really enjoying it and if the writing and spot on characterizations stay strong I think Im going to have the trilogy read in no time flat. Anyone else read these?
Splitting my time between The Spy Who Came in From the Cold by John le Carré; A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn; and re-reads of the Star Trek: Vanguard series.
Be careful with Les Mis- there are good translations and bad translations. Would it be wanky of me to say that it's best read in the original French?
I would give Guardian of the Night a B minus. It was an adequate sci-fi romp but nothing special. There were individual pieces of interest (the civilian scientist, the alien AI, the background regarding human space-flight post-invasion, etc.), but the novel as a whole was fairly forgettable.
