In 'Into Darkness', did anyone else find it just slightly surreal for a second seeing Sherlock Holmes saying the words 'Starfleet Headquarters'?

I went into the film expecting to see Sherlock instead of Khan, but I really didn't. He played the part totally differently (unlike, say, Captain Picard in a wheelchair in the X-Men movies). He even looked completely different, from tall and lanky to a brick wall giant. The mark of a great actor!

He's not even close, Watson even accused him of being Spock in Baskerville. But it was surreal having him face Spock after that.

Then again, Spock wasn't himself either, so if extrapolated the change in Spock throughout STID on Sherlock, you'd probably get something close to what we got.

Kirk vs. Smaug... Who would win?

I don't even like Abram's Star Trek. The only reason I went to see ID was Cumberbatch.

What I found surprising is how much more alien and mysterious he seemed to me than Quinto's Spock. I wish now that Cumberbatch had been cast as Spock, appearing exactly as he did as Khan in ID.

I thought Khan would end up being like Stephen Hawking. I was pleasantly surprised.

Pointy ears, yes, but everything else the same. No Nimoy bangs.

Spock vs Sherlock Holmes was the best thing about STID. That and Sherlock acting like Moriarty or murdering Klingons.

How does the ability to change the body by working out equate to being a "great actor"?

I thoroughly enjoyed Cumberbatch´s performance in STID and didn´t think of Sherlock Holmes for one second. And neither am I reminded of Khan when watching a Sherlock movie now.

But if you are intent on having a surreal moment, how about Sherlock Holmes sitting in the Captain´s chair of a Federation starship? :)

My brain went in several directions on this and I found myself thinking Robert Downey Jr. might be a good choice for Captain Calhoun, if that ever happened.

^ That could work. RDJ would certainly be better than Joe Flanigan, which is the name that most often gets put forth like a zombie thread every so often.

As for Holmes? Meh. I have never seen Cumberbatch play anyone other than Khan, so I have no basis to draw from here. And I consider the definitive Holmes to be Michael Caine. Oh yes, I went there.

I was referring to the all-over effect, including the acting.
