I'm hoping to get back on track with stuff I like doing. In this thread I'd like to start sharing photomanipulated and/or enhanced pics of stuff we'd never seen, but it sure as hell would have been nice to if it had been possible.

This first one is an imagined view of the proper production series version of the Enterprise racing toward and about to hit the galactic barrier in "By Any Other Name." The view you see instead of pure blackness is of distant galaxies beyond the barrier and our own galaxy.

when I read in Asherman's Star Trek Compendium about the original proposed scene with Captain April who kicks the rude officer off his ship, where the Enterprise was supposed to fly along a smaller vessel, I coursed that the scene was not used in The Cage, because the stock material could have been used in Charlie X again...
    :(

uhm Edit: ^your art is wonderful Warped9 ;) and a good topic title...

That's an absolutely beautiful image, Warped9... did you use one of the images from the Hubble Deep Field for the galaxies background? It looks very nice! :)

Thanks. The deepspace image of the galaxies may have been a Hubble shot, but for the life of me I don't recall where I got it. Often I find beautiful images and download them for possible use later on. The energy barrier is right from a WNMHGB screencap, but enhanced for the shot. It may not really show, but the Enterprise does have some radial zoom blur added to give it a sense of it moving away from the pov towards the barrier.

I'm hoping to add other images here. I don't want them to look like current Trek F/X, but like genuine TOS shots yet enhanced just enough to look a little more polished yet unmistakably authentic looking. In other words the "completed" image we may carry in our minds of what ClassicTrek really looks like.

For some reason the first pic at the beginning of the thread has vanished so here it is again for those who may have missed it.

A little shot addressing the shuttlecraft's more appropriate size in "Metamorphosis." Can you see the difference?

McCoy is shrinking! Must be a side effect of that seam filler he was using.

Okay, I confess: I just had to cover up that unsightly and very un-23rd century quality control seam on the stanalizer.

But also afte following your's and Phil Broad's projects on correcting the scale of the shuttlecraft I reasoned it'll work out to about 30% or so bigger than the "as built" mock-up, so I just upsized the shuttlecraft's image in the shot 30%, including it's shadows on the ground and all.

I'm going to check out the interior shots available and see if I can slip a glimpse of the interior into the shot. I'm also going to take a crack at re-envisioning it on the hangar deck.

Before Kirk there was the Pike era. And supposedly there was a time just before events of "The Cage." Here the Enterprise is engaged in her maiden battle at Rigel 7. The blue nebula in the background is the Witch's Head Nebula near Rigel.

Eh, maybe I missed this is an earlier post, maybe its just me but what the hell happened to the deflector dish?

Other than that I love the rest of the image.

I didn't do anything to the deflector dish. On the 1st and 2nd pilot versions of the ship thats what it looked like and it was larger than the series production version of the ship.

^^ Hmm. I kinda like them, but the trick is finding just the right shde. I also think it makes telling who belongs where a little easier. After all even though we know the original shirts were actually green rather than gold it can still look odd to see them in theirr original green. I know because I recently manipulated the colour to make the shirts look that way and it's very odd--not bad, just odd.
