What's your favourite Doctor? Mine's David Tennant, he was my Doctor really. Plus he's a great actor. Paul McGann's my second favourite as I loved the 96 film, and Christopher Eccleston is my third as he played the role really well and I loved the dark side he had to him. Maybe if he stayed a bit longer, he'd be my number one, but he didn't so....Tennant snatches the spot. :P
Meh, I don't know why Smith's so popular. Although I like him as a doctor, a lot of his episodes have been terrible in my opinion. The only episodes of his that I really like a lot is The Impossible Astronaut/Day Of the Moon and the Angels take Manhattan or something. But Smith's been in some stinkers too.
Matt Smith. He's got great range as an actor, a lot of energy that lubricates even the dumbest scripts, and a face that sometimes looks leading-man-ish, but just as often doesn't quite look human. I just wish more stories had been deserving of him. After that, it gets tough. Frankly, I love them all for one reason or another. I suppose my next favorite is Tom Baker -- "my" Doctor. But on different days, Troughton, McGann, Eccleston, Tennant, and even McCoy might take that spot.
How come Smith's so popular all of a sudden. I remember clearly when David Tennant was being hailed as the best Doctor since Tom Baker. Personally, I like Smith, but he's far from my favourite. I think he's about my 6th or 7th favourite, so not very high up.
Eccelston is my fave, hands down. After that it's a three way tie between Tom Baker, Hartnell and Troughton. The exact same can be said of Tennant and Eccelston's runs as well. There was a lot of push back on Tennant when he took over from Eccelston because to a new generation of fans, Eccelston was the first Doctor. Eventually Tennant grew on people and got popular. Which is what's happened with Smith. Who ever is the current Doctor tends to win most of the popularity polls. The same will happen with then next guy.
I see it's time for the usual "Favorite Doctor" thread. TOM BAKER. Period. Ad Infinitum. Ad Astra. Forever.
I can't comment on the first seven, so of the four that I do know (Eight through Eleven), Matt Smith is my favorite.
It's a thing that DWM has commented on repeatedly over the last several years. Whoever is the current Doctor always ranks highly in polls. Usually either in the top slot, or in the second slot behind Tom Baker.
Pertwee was my fav for, like, 30 years. But Tennant is just a wee bit better methinks. I would have LOVED for the two of them to be in a UNIT ep together. How hard is it to get a book published these days?
I voted Tom Baker [you never forget your first Doctor] but I have been greatly impressed with all three of the nuWho docs and would have a hard time picking between them. I've also seen only a couple of Colin Baker and no McCoy, and haven't watched McGann since the movie was first broadcast. I'll be remedying all of that soon. I also only saw Hartnell and Troughton in broadcasts from the late 80s over here... and i like Pertwee a lot as well. As has been noted, this is NOT easy. All of them have things i like.
Patrick Troughton has always been my favorite Doctor, until Matt Smith changed my mind. I love all of them, though. Well, most of them.
Tough picking one, but I chose Baker. But it's so very, very close that trying to list them in order is very difficult.
