I had no idea Joshua Jackson so polarized people. I've always liked the guy tremendously, but ... on reflection, understand why he might grate on the nerves.

I rate the pilot about midway between average and above average, and can see it either evolving into a truly spellbinding series, or losing me in just a very few eps.

^ In case you haven't noticed, a lot of people here have problems separating actors from their most popular roles, especially if they were on TV shows that are easily dismissed on here.

I've heard Susan Lucci has had people who believe she's Erica Kane slap her in the grocery store. Evidently she tried to take it as a compliment.

Now that's what I call professionalism.

That plane should have been part of the Oceanic line

    Whether your plane is

    A. taken over by Middle eastern terrorists( Executive Decision)

    B. Crashlands on a mysterious island with smoke creatures and odd magnetic field

    C. Or find yourself melting

You can always rely on Oceanic

I'm just waiting for the dharma institute to be a branch of Massive.

First episode and they have her strip down to black bra and panties. They must be desperate for viewers and the double airing(with two previews to hook people)

Soap opera actors get it the worst. Even if the actor's been on different soaps or the character's been played by multiple actors.

Now, people who ask George Clooney or Noah Wylie for medical advice take the cake.

I caught the re-airing of the Pilot... I'm intrigued enough to watch more. But I wasn't blown away.

    Positives:
The best part was definitely John Noble and his character... The female lead was good too. I dig the creepy vibe from her "boss", but something was a bit odd with his performance.

    Negatives:
The "Dawson's Creek" guy is irritating. Very irritating. Please remove him from the show ASAP.

the thing I'm most looking forward to is watching John Noble's charater . . . he had the best lines of anyone in the pilot :D

Despite the two airings here in Australia both times I managed to miss the part on the plane prior to the opening titles.

Thought it was okay. From liaison to super special agent investigating the "pattern" seemed to just happen without much real focus. Old man scientist was probably the best character because he is odd and not all there.

Was surprised that the lead's lover turned out to be a bad guy, was convinced they wouldn't get the cure and he was die for most of it

I'll probably watch the second episode, or at least half of it.

I just watched the pilot on DVD and was blown away.
JJ Abrahams and his writers Orci, Kurtzman did an okay job.

    Great directing.

    Amazing music by Michael Giacchino.

It seems like 2008's The X Files.

Having never seen one episode of the series or knowing anything other than it was scifi and JJ Abrahams.
    I really liked it.

In the pilot, did they explain Astrid Farnsworth, and why she seems to have no problem with Walter's eccentricities and other assorted weirdness?

In the pilot? no. She got used to it during the first season.

She gets pretty irritated with Walter several times during the season for calling her Asteroid or Asterisk.

Yeah...but that's not what i meant. As far as i can tell, she seems TOTALLY cool with all the truly weird stuff, like it's normal.

Will we find out that she was the administrative assistant for the X-Files before transferring to Fringe?

Astrid is the one regular character who has yet to have any character development whatsoever. So she'll turn out to be the big bad. :p

Lately long-dead threads have been mysteriously reappearing, creating havoc on message boards across the internet. I'm assigning Fringe Division to investigate.

Welcome to the brave new world of TV shows on DVD!

    What's old is new!

One of the things i've appreciated about message boards is that anyone can bring back an old-but-relevent topic...
