Nope, the game reads the sensors in the new guitars neck...

The sensor thing is pretty damn cool though - it's a brilliant assist since you don't have to constantly look down at a guitar in order to feed the frets.

Anyone get the Green Day game? I got it as a birthday gift last week, but I've only had time to play the first handful of songs. Harder than I thought it would be (on drums)... or maybe the two months I haven't played because I moved and still haven't entirely unpacked has made me rusty.

I read that a lot on the official forum....
Most thought since it's punk it's easy on all instruments, but they discovered it not to be...

 It's like no one has ever listened to GD before. The guitar parts aren't that bad, but the drum work is fast and frentic, especially on the earlier stuff.

I'll admit to mostly only being familiar with Dookie and a handful of hits afterward, but it still took me by surprise. I'm generally pretty solid on drumming in 'hard' difficulty these days, but on some of them I had to crack it down to 'medium'.

Well, there is probably a reason why there is an achievement/trophy called Tre's Greatest Hits...

    Some RB3 info from Joystiq:

So it looks like some Midi guitars might also work with it...

There's always a Brian Moore. Amazing guitars.

Funny thing about the Midi controller - I read that the Pro-mode guitars use them to connect to the systems so they'll come with one? Not sure if that's true or not though.

I love it, the RB forums must've exploded....
The past weeks, metal and classic rock, now Miley and Nickleback...

They need to go back to releasing more rock and metal. I mean, how can Rock Band 3 possibly compete with Guitar Hero 6 and their all new... story mode?

Hey, Nickelback sucks, but you better believe I downloaded the Miley track-pack the very instant it was released! Have been playing it nonstop ever since. So gutted that the 'Party in the USA' song wasn't included. Probably because it's difficult to sing vocoded lyrics.

The funniest thing was some of the biggest complainers where going "but if The Climb/Party In The USA/How You Remind Me where available i pick that up"....
I am also only familiar with Nicklebacks biggest hits, their ballads...
Just listened to the other 4 from the pack...
Burn It to the Ground, Figured You Out and Never Again are rockin' songs...
This Afternoon is a summery rock song...
Apparently Burn It to the Ground is the WWE theme song...

They need to make a Frank Zappa Rock Band with a Marimba controller.

The Nickleback tracks use the updated guitar/bass charting of using all 5 colours on all difficulties...

Has anyone found out why they made that change in the first place?
