I liked Rocky III a great deal. Rocky II was...the movie that they had to make in order to set up Rocky as a series rather than a single rather remarkable film. Rocky IV is 80s pop movie excess on a par with Stayin' Alive - not without its pleasures.
My problems with Rocky III: 1. Rocky's reaction to Mickey's death was over-dramatized and drawn out. 2. Rocky was physically too small for the final fight. 3. Paulie's jealousy was annoying. You would think he would appreciate the guy who brought him and his sister so much cash. My ranking is Rocky IV > Rocky > Rocky Balboa > Rocky V > Rocky II > Rocky III https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhfFOqat5N0
With the exception of the end credits, which was sung by Elton John, I believe. The entire soundtrack of V was Rap. Which is fine for fans of Rap, I just don't happen to be one.
I'm only interested if Creed's son fights Drago's son In fact, I'm only interested if it's a Rocky IV remake In many ways, Drago is the Rocky IV of Rocky opponents
Yes! I'm in. According to Wikepedia they filmed the first scenes at Goodison Park at half time during a game. I'm guessing it must have been a scene where the crowd goes wild for Rocky or something. Dunno. Let's hope the movie ends with Drago's son watching from the stands.
It doesn't look like Drago is involved at all. Which is good. That shit with the Russians was an 80's thing - entirely proper for Rocky IV but kind of outdated now. Besides, Drago didn't die, did he? So it's not like his son (if he has one) would have anything to avenge. At least not against Rocky; I doubt the Soviet government took kindly to Drago losing, so who knows what kind of retaliation they had in store. So Drago Jr. might have something against *them*, but not Rocky...
All true. Plus, what are the chances that both Apollo and Drago would have sons who grow up to be boxers that fight one another. Still, you never know what they might do in a sequel...
I agree. I am always going to give a Rocky movie a chance anyway, but that trailer really looks awesome. They even cut Michael B. Jordan's mustache like Carl Weather's, so there is a perceived resemblance.
Adonis Creed kills Ivan Drago Jr. in the ring, and Robert Balboa Jr. avenges him. Total reversal on Rocky IV.
Agreed. It's odd to do a serious movie that's based on the often cartoonish events of the Rocky sequels and Drago the Soviet Superman was the biggest cartoon of them all. That and timeline issues aside, this film looks really good. You can't go wrong with casting Michael B. Jordan.
I wasn't a Rocky fan but I saw the trailer for this yesterday with Terminator and now I'm seriously considering going to see it. Though my wife has a friend who named his dogs after Apollo Creed so it's a little weird.
Wasn't it originally supposed to be Creed's grandson (since Creed's son would be around 30+ by 2015) Then Clubber Lang's son beats Rocky Jr in Rocky X
This is a good article on how "Creed" came about... http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2015/06/30/sylvester-stallone-creed-sneak-peek/29462009/
