No it looked JUST LIKE a chipmunk, with stripes, but was bigger and was not a chipmunk.

It was wild. Where do gerbils come from anyway, when were they wild? It wasn't them, they are small. It had the tail that quirks up like squirrels and chipmunks. Why am I talking about this it was my personal inland sea.

I like the idea of the Borg being ultimately a matriarchal society in their need for a Queen. They assimilate rather than conquer, this strikes me as a feminine wile that works better than the bludgeon.

In America I think we called them "shooters" but I have also heard them called "taws".

Someone mentioned Locutus was the closest there was to a borg king.

Locutus was just there to help assimilate humans though, from what I understood. He was there because he understood humans (as well as starfleet classified info) and he would make the process easier to accomplish.

I got the impression that there might have been other versions of "locutus" (likely with different names fit for other species, seeing as how locutus is latin for speak, as in he is will speak to humans) for other species that the borg might have had difficulty in assimilating/conquering. Maybe that wasn't the intention but that's how I took it.

Anyway, I always hated the idea of an overarching borg queen, but I liked the idea that there would perhaps be different "ambassadors of assimilation" so to speak that the borg would prop up as a way to help them assimilate the tougher or less cooperative targets.

I didn't watch voyager though, and it probably contradicted what i'm saying. Don't ask me how I ended up in this thread, I have no idea.

Maybe it was the hope of hamburgers.

I like your idea that they had a variety of Locutus's. This makes more sense to me than Picard being somehow super special.

They mentioned Picard, if not by name, then they were certainly talking about him, when the Borg became so reticent about the intense furious pain which comes from talking to humans, that they offered janeway and friends Seven of Nine as a mouthpiece.

Not Kings or Queens, but condoms.

They save the Borg the headache of conversing with the less than perfect.

Why do they need to talk to humanity anyway?

What is so special about humanity that they need some kind of assimilation aid to assimilate them?

Assimilation is a reward, but frightening.

Have you taken a dog or a cat to a vet?

    They panic and they fight.

Even though it's for their own good to get some shots or some thing removed or stitched up, but they're going to fight, because some asshole is coming at them with a needle.

    So you dope them.

    And deal with the fallout.

It's amazing how quickly an animal can forgive you after you castrate them.

Assimilation is not a punishment, it's a reward for the exceptional.

I started a poll once asking who would choose to be assimilated for a time to experience it. I was shocked, practically no one wanted to try it out.

First Thing the Borg should do if they're not idiots is mass produce your individuality.

So if there's a billion, billion "you" operating autonomously running about driving a billion processors in the collective, which 'you" is going to be returned to your "body" unless a billion lives are going to be integrated into a clot and wedged back into your soul?

Yeah, they'd keep one like that just in case they needed a poster child.

Speaking of which, I wonder how long Seven's natural life span would be now.

When I saw this thread I'd imagined seeing an image of a Borg-ifed version of the creepy Burger King mascot. What a relief it's not in here!

    EDIT:

Looks like Guy Gardener has been there already!
