I ended up watching Trekkies the other night, for the first time in years. This got me thinking; post-Trekkies II, what are these people up to? I saw that Gabriel Koerner has done visual effects work for BSG, Lost and others. Any idea what some of the others are up to these days?

Many of them are still crazy, I think that's a given.

I'm sorry, but anyone who dresses in a Starfleet uniform every day and insists people call them "Commander" has a mental problem. Doesn't mean the should be persecuted or locked up, but I'm not going to pretend that's sane.

Do you think that she's still wearing her Starfleet uniform?

I thought that the dentist's office was cool.

I hate dentists. He'd have to employ Deanna Troi herself before I'd venture in there.I actually thought that the worst one was the guy with his UFP passport, wandering around the supermarket in his uniform. Or the guy who sang the filk song... Yikes...

Starbase Dental is still around. Up until a year ago I was still getting my teeth cleaned there.

Edit: For the record, no one wears a uniform there now. The office just looks like the "fan room" of someone's house.

I haven't seen this in a long time. Maybe I need to watch it again, cause I don't remember that at all.

The guy who built his own mobile Christopher Pike chair (WITH blinking light) co-hosted a comedy bowling program on Comedy Central for a while ("Let's Bowl!"). The show was hilarious and his "character" was just that, a fleshed-out piece of work with nervous problems and no understanding of bowling to speak of.

It was actually Rich Kronfeld...and I see from this listing: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0472177/ that Mike Nelson was a writer on the earliest version of "Let's Bowl" before it was on Comedy Central (Yes, the MST3K/Rifftrax Nelson). :) Kronfeld's "Trekkies" credit is linked on the same listing. :)

Sorry about the snake kitty. He's here for a while. :D

Gabe Koerner grew-up, became self-aware, and discovered women and pot:

    :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Actually, from what I've read, he's won an Emmy for doing SFX work on Enterprise and Battlestar Galactica, and is currently working for James Cameron. The chick seated is his (now ex)wife, and the dude sitting on the floor next to his feet is THE "Peter" from the famous Trekkies moment where he is interrupted by the phone call..."Peter this is the WORST TIME EVAR!!" :techman:

I'm glad he's doing well for himself. I've always wondered whatever happened to the stalker-lady/"Spiner Femme" that lived near Data, and took "Brent Breaks" where she would stare out off her balcony towards the hill where he lived. Y-i-k-e-s.

^I notice his (ex) wife has a Klingon D-7 open in LightWave on that computer. Nice.

I know some boards hate "bumps" and others are ok with it. (I don't understand the big deal either way, but anyway...)

I was thinking about the Trekkies documentary myself and began wondering "where are they now?"

So I googled "Trekkies documentary" and "where are they now" and BOOM was redirected back here. So I figured, let me reply and try to get a conversation going again.

Do does anyone know what these people are up to? I think everyone knows what Gabriel Koerner (sp?) is up to, but what about everyone else?

The guy who redesigned his apartment to resemble a Starfleet ship's interior has had some bad luck. First, the work he did on his apartment led to him going bankrupt, and then a year or two ago he ended up in jail for possessing child porn. Story.

The tone of some of us to these odd people is kinda harsh. Yup, a dude wearing lipstick in our culture is weird. So is being really realy into Star Trek as we are.

And yes, the overlords here hate thread resurrection, though I for one welcome them if it is an interesting thread.

That's sad. But good old Mirror: It's not enough to say "child sex abuse images", you have to say "vile child sex abuse images".

I hope the other people who appeared in Trekkies are doing better. I know some thought the doco portrayed fans in a bad light, but as an outsider I thought it showed a fun, accepting community. It's part of why I'm here!
